I'm going to have to revisit it. I saw it in the theater and found it dull and meandering. But I also didn't like Jackie Brown when I first saw it and now it's my favorite of his.
It was on FXM the other night, so I DVR'd it and we watched last night. I agree that's it probably his best. We watched it only having a very basic background on what it was about, so we kept wondering how QT was going to end the movie. Funny because the whole time I'm watching I'm saying to myself "Wow. Tarantino is making a movie with no violence."
The last movie that I felt compelled to watch in a theater over and over on the big screen. I find it stunning especially the last half hour.
The novelization changes the "Raiders" to the "Monkees" I wonder if the film had music clearance issues???
Weird, as there’s a direct correlation with Mark Lindsay and the house so I thought his/The Raiders inclusion was very intentional from the onset.
That’s about me too, maybe a couple more. At least three at the theatre. I was super lucky to get one of those beautiful box set packages of the 4k blu ray combo preorder, not realizing it would be in huge demand and worth so much now. I have watched it 6 times and I still really enjoy it. Maybe my favorite all time film. So much great acting, well crafted from top to bottom, it just goes on and on with cinematic delights. Killer soundtrack. I don’t know how it can be beat. And how do you cast that many people and get 100% of it (imo) right? I love Jackie Brown and Inglorious almost as much, but there is a special magic to OUATIH that I’m not sure anything else can quite touch. I know this: I will likely be seeing it until I can’t watch movies anymore! Hard to watch ‘em underground.
Here's a rundown on the Van Nuys Drive In Theatre. Van Nuys Drive-In in Van Nuys, CA - Cinema Treasures
I hope there's a longer version released someday. Just an extra hour of those two driving around LA. would be fine.
Sometimes its the little seemingly meaningless things. Was watching again last night and noticed when Cliff comes home he ends up on the floor smothered by Brandy. But we miss it because we are focused on Robert Goulet on the TV show Brandy's been watching. Cliff has many flavors of dog food for Brandy. This night's selection is a can of rat and a can of raccoon. Brandy approves.
I just saw watched it again, maybe 5th time now It’s my fave Tarantino film, it just has heart that his other films didn’t have as great as they are the ending is, I mean, come on it’s an all timer
FWIU it's in the plans to have a Netflix 3 one hour episodes series like he did with The Hateful Eight, QT said he can add an additional 20 minutes to Hollywood to make 3 hours.
What does everyone think of QT’s novelization? I had the audiobook, and I didn’t really like it. I may give it another go, but my first impression wasn’t great.
