Some new favourite bits of dialogue: RICK: Like the chewing gum? CLIFF: Strong! CLIFF: A cigarette dipped in acid. What does that do? HIPPIE GIRL: You smoke it, it gets you high CLIFF: And you too. I don't know your name, but I remember your white little face CLIFF: The train has left the station!
I guess they couldnt stand seeing Bruce Lee get his ass Kicked. Lol. China Halts Release of Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’
I doubt Tarantino can stop it from being cut, but hopefully he has the option of having his name taken off the film and go the Alan Smithee route.
Well, he didn't take his name off of "Django Unchained" when they re-edited it for China. He'll probably play ball.
When they're watching Rick's FBI episode. Rick is chewing gum at the end of the episode and the above dialogue takes place.
MORE CLIFF: Bad Idea! Nope, tire first Fair enough Oh, someone's hungry You take care George Not the words I'd use Hey, Randy! You the Mama bear? Not when Rick Dalton's got a f***ing shotgun, I'll tell you that That's not verbatim Uhh, can I help you? Thanks Gillian! Don't when I'll be back this way again That's a good plan No, it was dumber than that
Saw this twice. First time I saw it I was left going, "huh?" Figured I'd need to see it a second time to see if it clicked, so I saw it again. Second time I liked it even less, and I'm a huge fan of his work. By far the most bizarre Tarantino movie yet. It was shot very well and looked fantastic (35mm film and *crisp*) but it was absolutely pointless and plot-free. What the hell was the point? Then I read that Tarantino had been working on this story for like 6 years? What...the...??? Totally baffled as to why he made this movie.
Yeah. I love them watching tv together. This is the flick guys needed. #meclifftoo. Buddy flick. And Ricks character on the FBI is “Michael Murtaugh” — with Murtaugh being Danny a Glover’s las5 name in the “Lethal Weapon” movies. I stumbled across that looking up a movie.
It doesn’t matter. Django only did like $5M in China. No great fiscal loss. im sure the story of 60s Hollywood holds the same fascination for the Chinese as the imperial reign of Guanju III does for me. HOLLYWOOD would probably do even less money than Django would do even less because it’s even dialog driven with little action; Not your typical registered-as-a-lethal weapon Chinese blockbuster.
Kinda what I was thinkin’. Would likely just been a little more frosting on the cake, but he doesn’t need it. It’s considered a great success...good for him! Frankly, I was surprised people in other countries were informed enough about Hollywood America in the late 60’s, and the various other elements referenced in the film, that there would be any interest.
It is a grower...as suggested, pick up the blu-ray and give it another shot. Many people paid 4-5 times to rewatch it; I went 3. Almost everyone here liked it; very unusual.
any word on a digital and physical release date?? Its gotta be soon... Lion King was been released digitally weeks ago and that came out in theatres only a week before OUATIH.
It will be out on Blu-ray on November 5th, 2019. I think Tarantino has agreed to sign copies at his New Beverly Cinema in LA on a few dates. Correct, the studio has agreed that Tarantino not have to cut the film for China: Quentin Tarantino Won't Recut 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' for China The film has made over $366 million, which is a lotta money for an R-rated film of this length (Tarantino's second-biggest hit ever), so I think Sony Pictures is very satisfied with the film's performance.
"Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood” is returning to theaters in North America with 10 minutes of new footage as it readies its Oscar run this awards season..." 'Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood' to Return to Theaters With New Footage I'd happily go to see it again if they re-released it over here. The extra minutes are before the movie begins and after it ends apparently. I'm intrigued as to what the new scenes will add to the story.
