Not sure if a "new" Nonesuch target exists, but here's what I think it may look like:

Wow!! You've really outdone yourself on these last two. Coming up with two brand new color schemes is tres cool.

I will soon be appointing you as WEA's new marketing VP. Your first executive decision is to bring back the target! Time Warner stock zooms!

I do remember picking up that Steve Reich in the bins thinking I had a target -- and it was that blue around the rim with the Nonesuch logo. Oh so close -- and now it has come to fruition.

Kym, fantastic work on these! :righton: The AC/DC, the Led Zeppelin, and most of the others are just awesome looking. Keep up the great work Kym!

PS. Jerry Doucette: Mama Let Him Play please. ;)

I'd be very surprised if a new artist doesn't use the "target" design for something new.... This kind of phenomena seems nostalgic now!

Weird design in the first place, but it epitomizes the birth and infancy of CDs. Very nice work Kym.....

Thanks, Chris. :D Now that I look at it, I'm not terribly fond of the black type of the Rose Royce one - too dark! I'm going to try a white-type one later.

    If only! :sigh:

Thanks again. :D I do wonder, though, if there IS a new Nonesuch target out there...

Thanks, Dave! But I'm curious - which ones did you not think were awesome looking? ;)

Wasn't this album originally released on Mercury or Mushroom Records? (That's what allmusic.com says, anyway.)

I don't know - I think I prefer the Whitfield target with white lettering. What do you all think?

Kym, nice additions! A couple minor quibbles, though. You have a typo on the Cheech & Chong disc. It should read GREATEST HITS, no? Also, the Cheech & Chong target looks black and white. I know. Tough crowd. ;)

Not a typo. If you see the album cover with the giant spleef, you will understand :)

Thank you, BitShifter. Yes Keith, it's not a typo. I guess you're not that familiar with the green humor of Cheech & Chong. ;)

Speaking of colors (actually, hues), re: the "black and white" Cheech & Chong target - I compensate as much as I can with the colors of my targets. My monitor is calibrated to the printing press here at work, and it seems to be darker than those monitors that are uncalibrated. I'll try harder next time...

BitShifter and Kym, once I read BitShifter's reply and thought about Cheech & Chong for a second, I got it. Of course! I'm a dope! ;)

I thought the Cheech & Chong target was a new color variation because it's a new label (and what is the full name of that label? I tried to read it from the actual CD too with no luck).

Here's another request: Simply Red "Picture Book" with an Eastwest target (new color!)!

    question

Do people collect these target-logo CDs? If so, what is their significance?

    Thanks!

Under the dog with the "Ode" logo tail (look closely!), it says:

"Under the direction of Ode Sounds & Visuals."

Ode Records was Lou Adler's label. The most famous Ode recording is Carole King's Tapestry.

Well, I'm not into the pink and purple ones as they seem a bit on the bright side and if you could brighten the yellow on the yellow and brown one it would be better. All just MHO of course. ;)

Yes, Jerry Doucette was on Mushroom Records originally, however the CD version was released on ERA Records when K-Tel bought the rights to it.

KYM, can't praise you enough on your work here! Excellent is an understatement--brilliant! :) Makes me really wish some of these had been target releases, they look so vivid!

I do notice, that on TUSK, you used the Lp timing for "Sara" rather than the 45 edit from the original edition. Guys, did WB ever restore the Lp length "Sara" on TUSK at some point in time?

I wish I could actually put that Prince target on a copy of Parade. Wow. Great job!
