If you are talking about digital, that flat mix of TAAB in the DVD set is better than the MFSL, IMO.
"Stand Up' is the one that needs the work! All the rest of the catalog are pretty good in my opinion. Stand Up is a great album, but it sounds like someone put sleeping bags over the speakers.
Really? I've never heard a version of Stand Up that sounds like that, and I've heard the UK Island pressing on vinyl, and The Originals, MFSL and the latest remaster on CD. None of these sound like that.
Yeah, Stand Up sounds pretty good over here as well.
Are you in the credits again?
Not hearing that at all on any version I've ever heard.
MFSL for digital is great
the reissue for the 30th anniversary I think, its from Germany on heavy vinyl is really good too (my brother has it)
At this point I can't say much other than oh yeah, again. I'm thankful for being mentioned.
How you get in the credits?
Aha...yep now I see your name. Nice goin!
Put the word in for Minstrel.
Jeez...I wish the vinyl was being issued concurrently. Seems like a big mistake to put it off until January.
I was at a friends house just the other day, we were listening to a later Chrysalis pressing of "Stand Up" on his system. He even made the comment that the mix sounded muddy so it validated my observations of the record.
However, you fell satisfied with the sound, don't let my comments dissuade you from your enjoyment of the record.
What particular pressing were you listening to? Chrysalis UK or US? Green or Blue label? Original or EMI 100 reissue? Or some other pressing. It's just odd that you appear to be the only person describing the recording as dull, so you must be listening to a version I've not heard. Unbalanced mix (drums to one side), yes. In need of a remix ala This Was, yes. But not because it's dull on any version I've heard YET.
I will only say this and then end my involvement with this thread. I actually have (2) copies of this record. An early US Reprise version and a later green label US Chrysalis. My friend has the later blue label US Chrysalis. As far as I am concerned, they all sound fairly similar.
I don't' have access to all the UK pressings or MFSL versions or whatever. I have always liked "Stand Up", but don't find it necessary to own 10 different copies of this record. It is not high on my priority list. I am only commenting on examples of the hundreds of thousands of copies pressed here in the US and nothing else. I don't think they sound that good. It's my opinion and I am sticking to it. If on the other hand, you like it and think that it is OK, then that's all you need to know. Over and out!
Sax-son, I'm not trying to be provocative here, just trying to understand the description.
that's it....the EMI 100 reissue, really great vinyl
Speaking of Stand Up, I have a UK Island pink label. I'm not sure if it's a first pressing or not, but I think it sounds great, so much so that I wouldn't be interested in any remix or remaster.
The MoFi CD sounds pretty much like the Island UK vinyl, IMHO.
Picked up my copy this afternoon! So psyched.....I will be spending the early morning hours with this one later on tonight!
Hope Burning Shed gets mine out to me soon!
How's tomorrow was today, good godmother, beaches 1 and 2 sound?
Post more pictures man!
