You know what I mean..great vocal opening lines to fave albums.
Here's a couple of mine from two fairly well known British groups:

" One , two , three , fawh ! Well! She was just seventeen..."

" Oh ! A storm is threatenin' my very life today!"

Ringo's little shout at the beginning of "You're Sixteen." I love it! I Also usually stop listening to the song shortly thereafter. Haha.

So are we talking the first song of an album only, or any song?

The way I see it, Barry, this should be a very dynamite show.

Hmmm, seems even though I only included the first few words my post was still removed. So, I'll just say Maggot Brain - Funkadelic this time.

edit -- oh, it's because there are multiple versions of the same topic started. :shh:

“Brothers and sisters, I wanna see a sea of hands out there, let me see a sea of hands... I want everybody to kick up some noise. I wanna hear some revolution out there brothers, I wanna hear a little revolution! Brothers and sisters, the time has come for each and every one of you to decide whether you are gonna be the problem, or you are gonna be the solution... [that’s right!] you must choose brothers, you must choose!! It takes five seconds... five seconds of decision... five seconds to realize your purpose here on the planet... it takes five seconds to realize that it’s time to move, it’s time to get down with it! Brothers, it’s time to testify and I want to know, are you ready to testify? Are you ready? I give you a testimonial... THE MC5!!!!”

~Brother J.C. Crawford, intro to Kick Out The Jams.

Not even sung, more like a sermon, so maybe not an ideal choice for this thread... But as an intro? Worthy of James Brown, who probably inspired it, to some degree.

    Have you seen the living
    Tired of their own shells
    All the non-believers
    Torso in the well

Every Mars Volta album starts with some sort of dramatic, swelling prelude before Cedric arrives... except "The Bedlam in Goliath", that most haunted and aggressive of their albums, where "Aberinkula" seems to start mid-verse, full-tilt, and stays there for the next hour.

And another one, a little less obscure...

HEY, YOU! DON'T WATCH THAT! WATCH THIS!

    ok.

Maybe not the most epic, but I love the "Oh Mercy" at the start of "Looking For The Magic" by the Dwight Twilley Band.

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

There's a great scream on the intro to “Keep on Growing” (or maybe it' s “Anyday”, I can't remember) on the 20th Anniversary (?? also not sure) Layla CD.

It may have been taken from another song and pasted in there...

I'm sure some Eric freak will confirm (or most likely correct  ) what I've posted here.
