What are some examples of that? Songs that were recorded alongside the album, but weren't included for whatever reason, even if the song deserved to?

    For a first, we have:

The Byrds - Triad (on Notorious Byrd Brothers)
The Who - Early Morning Cold Taxi (on The Who Sell Out)

    What else?

PJ Harvey’s “Memphis” from the STORIES FROM THE CITY... sessions. Ended up a b-side, but it’s one of her greatest triumphs

Odd choice, but I love the early version of BOOK OF LOVE by Fleetwood Mac so much more than the one that appeared on the album.

The album is fine as is, but I've always loved the out-take (I first discovered in 1978, via the Powerhouse LP).

Ringo Starr - Everyone Wins [Time Takes Time]
U2 - Holy Joe (Garage Mix) / I'm Not Your Baby / North And South of the River [Pop]
Mike & the Mechanics - You Don't Know What Love is [Beggar On A Beach Of Gold]

also, there are several good single b-sides from the sessions to John Hiatt's "Little Head" album that would have benefitted this disc greatly had they been included as well.

    Just to name a few...

So Alone, the title track of the Johnny Thunders album. Was included on the 90s cd, but it wasn't originally on the album. A key song of his career.

Can't agree with you on "Early Morning Cold Taxi"

I love "Who Sell Out" but not the outtakes.

The Who - Pure and Easy (Who's Next) - much better than "My Wife" and "Going Mobile".
Bankstatement - Diamonds Aren't So Hard (s/t) - was apparently not on the original LP though it's on later releases of the CD. Possibly the best song of the entire set.
