Ages and Ages --We Need a Little Christmas. Never realized what a great little song this is until I heard this slightly somber take, which avoids the coke-fueled freneticism of the other versions I've heard:

Heavy Blinkers -- Chaplin's Xmas. Odd but lovely Brian Wilson-style tune and arrangement:

I think that is the most beautiful cut on his whole iconic Christmas album, and it also my just be the best vocal he ever did in my humble opinion. A terrific choice you made there and you are also right about the fact that it virtually never receives any airplay around the holidays as well.

Mark Knopfler -- Ragpicker's Dream. Beautiful and poignant. Knopfler at his best.

The Sufjan Stevens Christmas collections are excellent.

The Beach Boys -- Morning Christmas. Dennis Wilson pens and performs one of my favorites of this genre.

I'm a heathen but I much appreciate the idea of Christmas as a celebration of quiet joy and harmony in the middle of the darkest winter. "A L'Estampida" by the Dufay Collective is something I listen to every year during the Christmas holidays. It's not Christmas music per se, but for some reason it never fails to set me in the mood. GĂ©rard Le Vot's "Ultima Lacrima" does the trick also.

This didn't get a lot of attention. Tio my mind it's the most classic Blondie-sounding thing they did since reuniting:

The Joyeux Mutato album by Mark Mothersbaugh is a festive favourite here.

[IMG][IMG][IMG]And if you like the music from these guys, you might like Rick Wakeman's Christmas CD too. It's a solo piano CD that comes out in a couple of weeks.

It isn't Christmas Eve in my home without Mark Isham's Tale of Two Cities on Vol 1.

Alas, it's also the only track of his I can bear listening to...

This isn't bad at all. More time arranging it and it coulda been a contender!

Several years ago the mighty Foxy Shazam took a marginally Easter-ish song and turned it into a marginally Christmas-ish song.
