I did create a new poll on here regarding all the rumored 2020 releases/reissues......have fun and vote and comment!
A heart-shaped red-coloured vinyl single would have been a nice-looking release by Paul on Valentine's Day.
APRIL 18, 2020. John Lennon Instant Karma black single -2020 ultimate mix/original UK artwork 'McCartney' 50th Anniversary –180 black LP with certificate and obi for the collectors, Half Speed cut Ravi Shankar produced by Harrison- Chants of India 2 colored LPs
I’m in for the McCartney 50th. They could have been real lazy and just offered a pic disc for the obligatory anniversary release, but at least this is another mastering option. The Harrison estate once again seems to go out of the way to offer anything but George Harrison stuff, but if they were going to do anything, I wasn’t holding my breath for a big RSD release from them, so no big surprise . And I’ve said it before, but I’m really hoping that Instant Karma single is a teaser for a full Plastic Ono box later this year.
You see, that's the thing I can't understand with the Harrison estate. This year marks the 50th anniversary of what's considered by most as the best Beatles-solo album (I personally don't at all), containing major hits by George. Their logic? "oh let's put out a double colored LP of tambla wamba "produced" by George" Instead of... I don't know, like John or Paul, put out a remixed version of My Sweet Lord (aka George's biggest hit) ? George would be so baffled by that I truly hope they'll move their ass not to let his catalogue rotting in the vaults and start a collection of newly remastered/remixed album in nice boxsets on their anniversary dates, like Apple does, Lennon estate does, MPL does And Ringo... nah I'm fine with the Photograph compilation But yes I'm convinced POP Ultimate Boxset is on the way, just considering Instant Karma being called "Ultimate Mix" just like Imagine two years ago
It could have been worse. More colored vinyl! Pic discs! At least this will sound different. Maybe it winds up being peoples preferred pressing. I’m sure they felt they had to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the album somehow, and I am glad they showed some restraint by not releasing another box set which would make the still ongoing archives look inessential. And to be honest I doubt there are much interesting outtakes they could release now that they didn’t include on the original archive set. I just hope they don’t feel it necessary to commemorate the 50th anniversary of every album going forward (unless the half speed winds up sounding really good)
A post-Wings Paul Love Songs compilation would be kinda cool, especially if there's a new track or two on it. Maybe a remake of Silly Love Songs, too, even though that's Wings, he could do a solo version if he wanted.
The only consolation I have for myself regarding the Harrison estate is that I never expected then to do anything exciting for a RSD release and that an ATMP anniversary set is still very possible with a good 9 months to go before the anniversary. So I am still cautiously optimistic
There's Black Friday RSD in the Fall....That's more likely to get a My Sweet Lord/Isn't It a Pity 7" since ATMP album was released at the end of 1970.
