Well... these are offering something new, after all. For the 2018 reissues, Thrillington had been remastered in the Ram box and all of the tracks for Wings Greatest were already done. Now, Choba, Paul Is Live and (possibly) Wide Prairie are all newly remastered. I'd assume the colour vinyl is more limited than the regular black, so I guess that's why it's sold quickly.
Well, Wings Greatest DID include for the first time a remastered version of the full With A Little Luck.
That sounds way different. Kinda cool, with interesting tropical flair added with plenty of 1986 production techniques.
Why do we think that the photos of the reissue albums on Paul's site appear to have a poster with them? Is this just the artwork/booklet folded open or do we get a little something extra ordering from Paul's site? The preorders on Amazon just have the album artwork. Nowhere on Paul's site does it mention an extra poster that I can find. Even if they are the booklets, that's a neat addition to these re-releases. Also that tree on the left looks awful suspicious. via Imgflip Meme Generator via Imgflip Meme Generator
Nooooooo! The instrumental section is wonderfully melodic and the final belted-out chorus gains in power from the delayed onset. I hate the edited version.
100%. That break, although it doesn't do much (but it does it nicely!), makes everything before and after it so much more impactful.
I have the original vinyl. One thing that always puzzled me was whether my copy was missing an insert. Note how the “poster” for the re-release appears to be a cd-sized item unfolded... You have to look carefully, but you can see it.* Anyway, my original lp had no insert, just the AZ landscape photo on the inner sleeve, so there were no credits anywhere with the lp release. Did they just shove one of the cd inserts into LP sleeves back then? Did mine fall out before making it to the shop? I suppose only someone like @Wiserforthetime or @daveidmarx or @Mazzy (who all likely have the original release on vinyl) could say... IF that’s what they did back then - understandable. How many Linda McCartney LPs were they selling in 1998? But you’d think it would be an lp-sized insert now, and it sure doesn’t look like it is. Odd! *I was gonna insert a foliage-related @clem-joke here, but he’s vanished! Or changed his name, or both! It says “profile unavailable” for his new name. Hope the tree jokes didn’t scare you away, friend - you’re still welcome here!
Oh no! All his sniffing around on that branch-gate conspiracy, giving us so much compelling evidence including diagrams, and now he’s disappeared!? The plot thickens. Seriously though, I hope everything’s alright!
Ahh, so mine fell out before I even purchased it (new!). Thanks for answering that lingering question!
Exactly! If tireless ribbing is all it takes to get rid of someone here, I’m gonna set my sights on you before him!
Yeah if you ever want a complete set you can get one out of a CD. I guess they just printed a bunch of those up for both formats.
Like you, I of course have the cd too. I’m not quite as crazy as you on completeness, but I’m in the same time zone! Edit: I’d love to know what you DON’T have - what’s on your top five most wanted list?
Oh believe me, even though I have quite a nice collection, there is so much I don't have that I want. If I had unlimited money I would be out for every pressing, every country, etc. I don't know that I actually sat and made out a dream want list but right now off the top of my head some things I'd love to have are: 1. Paul McCartney & Wings Jet (Sweden sleeve with topless woman on one side and blank on the other) 2. Brung To You By promo vinyl 3. George Harrison Love Comes To Everyone US rare pic sleeve 4. The Fireman Rushes promo 12" with nude poster 5. Wings Back To The Egg rare pic disc 6. Wings Junior's Farm (Spain sleeve) .....to name a few.
Well MY copy of WP on vinyl only has the inner sleeve. No CD-sized booklet. Perhaps some included them and others didn't? The Discogs entry mentions the foldout poster. For those 2 or 3 of you who own both, is the foldout insert identical to what's included with the CD? It'd be nice if I can "complete" my LP by picking up the inexpensive CD and using the cover from that...
