As I search high and low for any band or artist simply called "Elba", I'm more convinced than ever it really just is Idris. It'll be pretty interesting to see how he fits in, as his DJing skills would lend credence to the idea of this being a collection of remixes. EDIT: Maybe it's eleven covers, followed by a 12th track which is Elba making a new recording out of the elements of McCartney III songs and new overdubs from Paul — like how "Lalula" was made.
I really hope this is a remix collection. Not in the turn-every-song-into-a-dance-track kind of way, but in the sense of each artist adding their own instrumentation/sound to McCartney's vocals. I recall Elbow "remixing" Peter Gabriel's More Than This - they basically removed the backing track and re-recorded it so that it was Peter Gabriel and Elbow. Marvellous.
Damon Albarn also posted this on his instagram (I don't have twitter to check!). I'm guessing these musicians may have covered the album? The mind boggles! Login • Instagram
Oh wow - I love it. I am off the wall excited for this project. This really is the dream project for me - an opportunity for McCartney agnostics to hear the undiminished level of his songwriting. I'm psyched. I guess it'll be streaming this weekend. A great way to bogart some of the Grammy buzz that surrounds Phoebe Bridgers and Anderson Paak. Seems impossible to announce something like this Grammy's week and not launch the project at the same time. How exciting.
Some interesting info here Paul McCartney - iiimagined Lyrics and Tracklist | Genius or perhaps just old news..? Sorry if that is the case
Very interesting. So two things: according to Genius, the Album is out this month. And McCartney is listed on each track. I guess this makes it a McCartney album, not just a covers album?
I wouldn't say Genius is the most reliable source (after all, I created most of those lyric pages ) I titled the album of covers 'iiimagined', but I'm not sure if that's the official title
To note, this page was created by fans, the release date of March and assumption of it being covers (while probably both true) is not confirmed
