I have decided to save Women and Wives, Lavatory Lil, Slidin’, Deep Deep Feeling, and Seize the Day for the 18th.

That way there’ll still be some surprises left for me! I’ve REALLY liked the tracks I’ve heard already!

I thought of doing something similar, but then I thought I should listen to the album as a whole at once, the way it was intended to be heard. But anyway different approaches to enjoy the same thing. Those are some very strong tracks you're saving, IMO.

Not for anything but what’s the deal with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reggae? It wasn’t included on McII archive, but the A-side single, Wonder Christmastime was. I guess the two are being separated for BTTE archive? It’s never included on his Christmas playlists/EP’s either. At first I thought, well maybe it’s considered offensive to some in 2020, but wait, they included Frozen Jap on this new playlist! Has this little Rudolph Wings track just fallen into a black hole of Christmas past?

I hang my head in shame. How could I not add Your Way to my list of best songs from Driving.

I actually think Women and Wives is truly awful, and my least favourite on the album.

I've never enjoyed how Paul's voice "sits" in the mix for Chaos (though I love the songs on the album). Whether it's brick walling or limiting or whatever, the net effect for me is a sound on Paul's voice I don't prefer. To me, on several songs he sound like he's singing from a different room than the instruments are playing in.

Does anyone have the recent-is Chaos vinyl reissue? Is that brick walled just the same as the original CD?

I hear it on "Memory Almost Full" but not on "Chaos & Creation...".

    Absolutely.

MAF sounds like a bad AM radio broadcast.

MAF needs to be re-released like Double Fantasy stripped....or something along the lines.

Hopefully not like Double Fantasy Stripped for dynamic range - it has a DR of 9. :)

    Cheers,
    Paul

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I really enjoy a lot of Paul’s work after Driving Rain it’s just the production/sound that is a detriment for me. Maybe it’s that “modern” sound. I’m very curious to hear what McCartney III is going to sound like.

I’ve only listened to half the album and only a few songs more than once, but not enough to really know them well, and now a little time has passed. Same thoughts as you. I want some surprises, so I’m not listening again except for -any official releases. I also don’t want low res versions to be the version I associate with. This should sound much cleaner on vinyl and I’m excited for that!

First impression is that this is going to be a great album that we will recognize as important and remember fondly. Time will tell, but I mean, who will forget this year?
