Hasn’t the shock of Fuh You worn off by now? I remember reading comments when the single was released and I hadn’t heard the song yet. I thought it was Freedom 2. When I finally heard Fuh You, I was thinking I must be hearing a different song. It’s catchy and naughty and in a long tradition of McCartney tracks going back to Hi Hi Hi and Eat At Home. It looks like Macca is still having and enjoying sex in his 70s. Awesome! There is hope for me!!! And can I just say, if Nothing For Free was a single, and it charted, I don’t think it would be the beloved secret track it is here now. I think NFF is catchy as all get out, but it’s also gimmicky, like Fuh You. Now, I have nothing against either song, but I think NFF would lose its lustre once it got popular just a guess. I feel the same about Waterspout. It’s a better song as an unreleased bootlegged track, IMO. If it existed on Londontown, I suspect Waterspout would have been a target of derision. Just my guess.
Question: Does anyone own The Lake House Soundtrack and if so, can they check if This Never Happened Before sounds less compressed (i.e., not brickwall limited) than on the Chaos and Creation LP?
How many postings can one make here ranting about the mastering and sound/quality of Chaos without it starting to look a bit on the obsessive side I don t know -maybe the sky is the limit
I have liked Fuh You ever since I first heard it. Great pop/song with a massive chorus and an absolutely gorgeous Beatkesque middle-eight, The lyrics are pretty funny and the video is very good I know many hate this -for me it s just a catchy and funny pop-song The other two Tedder produced songs Get Enough and Nothing for free Carey some more weight Like en all
Reading about the sound quality of various albums is very interesting. But in this thread it is off topic. I appreciate an own thread about it. Here I prefer reading about the new album McCartney III.
Ok here s some Spoiler: McCartney III Imo this album eventuellt might turn out to be a great McCartney album that when all is said and done will rank among his more realised efforts. All the ingrediens for a pure McCartney work is there in the form of Strong songwriting-in some cases outstanding with vintage Paul melodic touches Somme eccentric and experimental parts great and solid arrangements with Paul doin everything himself Some jaw-dropping moments were Paul stretchen out his vocals in a very special way. Forget about his voice being shot-it has lost the elasticity of Youth but instead has deepened and as far as Im concerned Pauls vocals both lead and harmony/backing-ones are a Tour se force A variety of styles but still a sense of whole. The album covers everything from delicate acoustic ballads to thunderous rock n roll
Wow! Not for the first time I’m left staggered by your arrogance. Last time I looked this wasn’t the Billy Budapest Music Forums. Nor was it the Steve Hoffman Audiophiles Forum. Chaos doesn’t hurt my ears. MAF does. Sorry if - according to you anyway - that makes me less worthy a forum member than you. Now where’s that eye rolling emoji when you need it??
I’m in the same boat as you on this one. It’s like I don’t want to like it but I can’t help myself. And that middle eight IS Beatle-esque genius.
True I feel a bit uncomfortable when fellow-members tell others this is the wrong forum just because they hear things differently than him. To be honest -that s both nuts and very rude Lucky we have the ignore-option
There's a certain irony in telling people to leave the SHF because they are accused of not being audiophile enough to be tolerated here and therefore, in the wrong place - by ranting about an off topic like "Chaos and Creation" in an McCartney III thread, which is actually also a "wrong place". Peace and love, guys
I haven't heard the album yet though I have read many reviews from you all here. There is no single, but what if there is one later... Maybe there'll be a Check My Machine, Secret Friend or Darkroom type song as a b-side.
I believe the dislike for Bip Bop on this forum is a bit over fabricated for humor sake. Don't take peoples lust for hating the song TOO serious. It's like Wonderful Christmas Time. For YEARS and YEARS it was just a great little Christmas song that Paul put out. People liked it. It got a ton of radio play. Still does! HOWEVER, at some point, SOMEONE had a major hatred for the song that was so big, they shared that hatred on the internet. It started a snowball effect. NOW it seems to have the reputation for being the WORST Christmas song of all time. Some even claim it to be the worst SONG of all time. We call these people DAFT! 'Wonderful Christmastime' is the worst Christmas song–and quite possibly the worst song–ever .
Wonderful Christmas time is a brilliant tune, still sounds great today as does McCartney's stuff from that era... Clever song too.
I'm very disappointed that you're doubling down on this rude and snobbish position. I read your posts because I generally find your opinions interesting -- and that's despite your relentless, fundamentalist audiophilism, not because of it. FWIW, I've been on this forum three years longer than you have -- virtually from its inception -- and you're the first person who ever said I don't belong here. But I'm done discussing this; I think I will check out of this thread until the album actually gets released.
Totally agree. I've never understood the apparent love for Waterspout. For me, it's pleasant enough melody and slightly cringe worthy lyrics make it a lower-tier 70s McCartney track.
I guess Paul keep crying all the way to the bank concerning the bad rap of Wonderful Christmastine -one of the most lucrative songs he ever made Paul McCartney Continues to Have a Wonderful (Financial) Christmas Time Imo a great and fun christmas song
I only partially understand it. But let's not forget that christmas songs as a genre is highly controvertial. A Friend of mine just dislikes anything of that kind. Another addition I think is the over-saturation. How many listensbof Last Christmas did ut take you to get annoyed? It's a great, great pop song, but ... it can get too much. People dislike Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas, which I always liked but since many, many years ago it came on the radio and I actually listened. I noticed how well it captures the mood, and since then I just loved it. I also do love Wonderful Christmastime. But it's a pop song, i.e. it can nurture dislike by it's very nature. I also love the original and MacCa's version Chestnuts. Not everyone likes christmas, which very likely will add to their reaction and overrule the enjoyment of just a well done pop song.
No matter what Being able to write and publish a succesful christmas song is the lucky Strike for a songwriter. Wonderful Christmastime is among the top 20 most popular within the genre. Iv read somewhere he has made more money out if that one than the rest of his catalogue combined Good for Paul
If someone can point me to a free DRM for Mac I can check the values for McCartney III. My DROffline trial period has unfortunately ended.
New review from Record Collector Magazine https://twitter.com/Jamie_Atkins_/status/1334458998917976064?s=20 4/5* “It’s an album brimming with ideas, energy and curiosity”.
