It folds into itself in the middle, a little like a cereal box top. One of my cherished possessions

When my status changed like that, I had it in an hour....

When I was first collecting all this stuff in the eighties, my tape of b-sides was one of my favorite McCartney “albums”. The concept sort of fell apart for me when there started to be singles with multiple B-Sides, but it worked nicely through “My Brave Face”.

    Fascinating...

According to Discogs, there are several that could be available for under $50. Now I'm starting to think about getting one.... :ignore:

Yeah, I always imagined an album of all the non-lp tracks from 1971-1983 [excluding the ones from Wings Greatest, of course].

The great lost Paul McCartney [double] album!

Would fit nicely on a 90 minute cassette [and could be rearranged as desired]

    side 1:
    Oh Woman Oh Why
Give Ireland Back To The Irish
Give Ireland Back To The Irish (version)
    Mary Had A Little Lamb
    Little Woman Love
    C Moon
    The Mess
    I Lie Around
    Country Dreamer
    Zoo Gang
    Sally G
    Letting Go (remix)
    Running time: 44:40

    side 2:
    Girls' School
    Goodnight Tonight
    Daytime Nightime Suffering
    Wonderful Christmastime
    Rudolf The Red-nosed Reggae
    Coming Up (live)
    Lunch Box / Odd Sox
    Check My Machine
    Ebony And Ivory (solo)
    Rainclouds
    I'll Give You A Ring
    Ode To A Koala
    Running time: 45:19

I didn't have access to Secret Friend back in the pre-internet days... and I might have skipped it anyway, given how that 10:30 would have forced me to drop 3 or 4 other tracks...

I made it to Disc 60 before I accidently played the B side first. Now I have to start all over.

I thought I still had the old tape, but I through it out. I completely forgot that I used to write all the songs out and then add them up to make sure they’d fit on a 45 minute tape. Something like this.
    McCartney b-sides

  12. eBay has them show up regularly for $10-$20. In many cases, Discogs is cheaper than eBay, but not for this.

Ha! Well, @Chief described it well enough, but I thought you might like some pics.
Btw, always good to hear from him, as I have fond memories from about 15 years ago of discussing the solo albums with him, @Sean Murdock, @Glenn Christense, @Dr. Pepper, @Joey Self, @Arnold Grove and others. Some of my my favorite memories on this site! Best to all you old geezers, and the youngsters I chat with more frequently these days!

I’m going to make playlists of these. Thanks! I wanna try and make my own. Sooo much good stuff here. The challenge is what to leave off.

I'm guessing you're counting me among the youngsters, as I've only in the last several years been a member of the forum.

But believe me, I'm not that young... I was collecting McCartney music in real time in the 70s, and was on Rec.music.beatles back in the day... But if you want to call me young, I'll take it. :hugs:

Yeah, I would probably rearrange the order instead of just going chronologically, but I threw that list together quickly just to remember what would fit on the tape...

I collected this stuff in real time as well. I bought Let It Be and McCartney albums within a week of each other in June 1970 as a 10 year old with lawn mowing money.

We’re you jmxw on r.m.b., too? Or some other moniker?

I’m sure that the case with my collection as well. The last one I remember is “My Brave Face.” I do have 12-inch of “…Long Ago.”

Edit: overall I probably have 30-40 of the original singles.

Good reason for that! It was the last real US commercial 45 of Paul’s. There were some later ones, but they were basically “niche” products, not aimed for the mass market. In the UK, 45s continued for Flowers, with This One, Figure Of Eight, and Put It There having “retail” 45s, but none of those were released in the US as 45s. They did “jukebox only” singles for some OTG songs in the US, but ”Brave Face” was really the end of the line for “regular” 45s. They just weren’t a commercial force anymore.

Maybe I've missed it but has anyone mentioned video quality of recent YouTube uploads?

I feel as if they'd worked on McCartney Years as a vid source and simply sent that through some smoothing + line sharpening AI filter. I know I've seen better No More Lonely Nights transfers.

Oh! I would love that test pressing.

I'm wondering, do I have the lowest # box so far here?
    Mine is # 0188.

Wait, what's wrong with the live version of "Coming Up"? I thought they finally used the right edit? And "Only Love Remains" is indeed the wrong mix?
