The thing I remember most distinctly about the movie "Father's Day" is seeing Billy Crystal and Robin Williams on a talk show -- Letterman, I think -- promoting the movie, and they were hysterical. The way the improvised and played off each other was just genius. And then I saw the movie and thought, "What the hell...?" It takes some effort to put those 2 in a movie and have it not be funny.

As for Flaming Pie, the song, it's good and fun. Nothing great, but a needed change of pace after some more serious tracks.

HEAVEN ON A SUNDAY - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG! Has a SMOOTH JAZZ feel to it, and the guitar playing FEATURING HIS SON JAMES is definitely a highlight! To my ears this song is HEAVEN ON ANY DAY!

I love the quiet moodiness of this song. There’s a little bit of a brooding feeling here too in the music, like you’re watching a storm roll in or something but enjoying it and finding it relaxing at the same time. Paul had the song come about while he was sailing apparently so I guess that constitutes a nautical connection to my storm analogy. A+ on the trading of guitar licks by Paul and James. Awesome sparse synth playout.

' Flaming Pie ' is better than any album he did in the 80s....and don't give me that b.s. line about how 'Tug of War ' is his masterpiece. It isn't.

I got behind and am glad to see we are up to FLAMING PIE, my 3rd favorite McCartney album (behind RAM and BAND ON THE RUN)
Here's my rating of these songs:
The Song We Where Singing 8/10
    The World Tonight 7/10
    If you Wanna 7/10
    Somedays 10/10
    Young Boy 9/10
    Calico Skies 10/10
    Flaming Pie 8/10

Calico Skies is one of the 10 best songs Paul ever wrote (including Beatles songs). Somedays is not far behind. The US blew it by choosing the OK "The World Tonight" as the single rather than the catchy upbeat "Young Boy". I'm convinced "Young Boy" would have been top 40. There are no weak songs in this bunch and no weak songs on the album, which is quite impressive since there are a lot of songs on FLAMING PIE.

I think the work on BEATLES ANTHOLOGY inspired Paul. This album is great!

I just realized the the song ' Flaming Pie ' continues Macca's fascination with his nose, a body part he often references in his lyrics.
" Stick out my and lick my nose "

    Young Boy

A highlight. A rock / pop song with great vocals, harmonies, melody and honest lyrics expressing a desire for young people to find love. The guitar work is fantastic, with a terrific solo by Steve Miller. A magical combination of talents. Bravo!!!

    Lyrics:

    He's just a young boy
Looking for a way to find love
It isn't easy, nothing you can say
    Will help him find love
He's got to do it for himself
And it can take so long
    He's just a young boy
Looking for a way to find love

He doesn't need another helping hand from someone
But don't you think he doesn't understand what he wants someone
    Though independence means a lot
He's got to still be strong
    He's just a young boy
Looking for a way to find love

    Find love, a perfect combination
    Find love, whatever you do
Find love, a cause for celebration
    Then it might come looking
    Come looking for you

    Find love, in any situation
    Find love, whatever you do
Find love, a cause for celebration
    Then it might come looking,
    Come looking for you

    He's just a young boy
Looking for a way to find love
It isn't easy nothing you can say
    Will help him find love
He's got to do it for himself
And it can take so long
    He's just a young boy
Looking for a way to find love

Find love, a time for meditation
Find love, a source of inspiration
    Find love, instead of confrontation
    Find love
And love will come looking for you

Heaven On A Sunday - Underrated song and possibly my fave Paul vocal on the album along with Souvenir, love the ending too which is 67 Beatleseque. 8/10
Think this along with Chaos is a late gem of an album that will be remembered in future years.
