    Dr. Pepper What, me worry?

At this time I had exactly 11 days left of being 11 years old. I will always remember the Summer of '76 as being the summer of McCartney! He was the biggest he would ever get since being a Beatle. He had performed at the Kingdome in Seattle on June 10th then school got out for summer! And the radio was wall to wall Paul!

I know we went through Electric Arguments already, but I don't remember this being mentioned: what on earth does Paul say at the end of the hidden track, Road Trip?.

    Let's Love

A romantic composition. It's a melodic and touching raw work.

    Lyrics:

Let's Be In Love With Each Other
Tonight Is The Flight Of The Butterfly
    Let's Love
    Show Me
And Find It A Pleasure To Know Me
Tonight Is The Flight Of The Butterfly
    Let's Love

    Come Along
    We're All Alone
    And If Nobody Calls Us
We Might Spend The Night On Our Own, Mm-mm
    Lover
Let's Be In Love And Discover
That Night Is The Flight Of The Butterfly
    Let's Love

Let's Love is a stunning song. Just beautiful. He sings it wonderfully too, and I love the piano.
I had heard it before, but seriously, I'm in love with this song.

Paul has given away some truly wonderful songs. Let's Love, Step Inside Love, On the Wings of a Nightingale, Goodbye...

Let's Love - Great song very romantic, I really like that version by Sandra Reemer. It has some nice bass lines and has a little more swing to it.

One incredible sing that Paul should have recorded with Wings instead of givin it away. One of Paul’s best unreleased songs(by him that is). Gorgeous melody

    Song facts
In 1974, the producer Dave Clark asked Paul if he could provide him with a song for a singer named John Christie. Paul sent him a demo of the song, and the song was recorded and released as a single.

The demo by Paul has finally been released in 2014 on the remastered Venus And Mars Deluxe Edition.

    Sunset's Painting Up The Sky,
There' S Something In My Eye.
    Why Am I Crying?
    It's The Fourth Of July.

Friends Come Up To Me And Say,
    "it's Gonna Be Your Day"
    Why Are They Lying?
    It's The Fourth Of July.

Could It Have Something To Do With The Fact
That I've Been Feeling Blue Since Friday?
You Walked In With Him Again,
Suddenly I Knew It Wasn't My Day,
    Oh No, Well, Anyway.

Choo Choo Choo Doo Doo Doo,
    Ch-ch-choo Doo Doo Doo Ah.
    Why Am I Crying?
    It's The Fourth Of July.

Could It Have Something To Do With The Fact
That I've Been Feeling Blue Since Friday?

4th of July - This is another first time listen for me.

It's very, very nice - even better than Let's Love! The melody is lovely and the "Oh, Why Am I Crying?
It's The Fourth Of July" couplet has lodge itself instantly in my musical brain. Back in the early to mid 70s, Paul really was prolific in writing these beautiful and apparently effortless melodies.

It's a shame he wrote this to give away, as it could have been used to improve Speed of Sound or London Town as it is and a more developed version, perhaps with some background piano chords, light percussion, a sparse bass line and a few harmony vocals, may have been even better.

A high 3.5/5 as it is and a 4/5 for the more developed version that never was. :)

Oh come now, the version that never was, but could have been could have been a 10/10 in my unwritten book!

    4th of July 9/10

Another first time listen for me and another stellar song for Paul. Glad we have what we've got, but I wish that Paul would have finished it off and put it somewhere. I mean what a fantastic b-side if he didn't feel it fit on an album proper.

Not unless my parents did. And no they did not.

Bossman Bemagnus, I would be remiss if I did not point out my disgust for you not starting this thread on September 15, 2019. If you had, you'd be posting 4th of July on the 4th of July, a day of some import in particular parts of the world.

Instead you started the thread on September 11 which has absolutely no meani . . . oh wait. Never mind.

4th of July: 2/5 A dreary song with purposefully weird chords that now sounds like “In Liverpool” and vaguely like “Bluebird” in spots.

4th of July is my favorite of all of Paul's bonus tracks from the archive editions (yes, that includes the Elvis tracks). So wistful and melancholy. I so wish this had been done as a proper album track. Gotta say I do not like the John Christie version. I suppose it's approach makes sense as a single, but it misses the delicacy and vulnerability of the demo by a mile. Particularly the assertive harmony vocals. Perhaps a polished studio version by Paul would lose the intimacy of the demo. It would have to be approached in the same manner as I'm Carrying from London Town. The "tone" of the demo is perfect.

I also enjoyed Paul's demo WAY more than the released version. You worded pretty well the why I think.

Early to mid 70's might be my favourite Paul period ever.

Strongly disagree 4th of July is better than Let's Love though :)
