You are correct sir, It's not close because Home Tonight/In A Hurry is Paul's best double ever!

"Hi Hi Hi" c/w "C Moon" - C Moon is weak!
"Mull of Kintyre" c/w "Girls' School" Mull is not a fave for me.
"Getting Closer" c/w "Baby's Request" Neither side is all that stellar.
"I Don't Know" c/w "Come on to Me" Come On To Me is one of the weaker album tracks.
"Home Tonight" c/w "In a Hurry" Both stellar, this is the one!

P.S. The one single combo that beats it is his 1979 single release "Goodnight Tonight," backed with b side "Daytime Nighttime Suffering" ! Now it wasn't released as a double A, but it should have been!

A highlight. A catchy song with lovely vocals, melody, and lyrics. Pure Pop McCartney. Bravo!!!

    Lyrics:

    I'm taking you home tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Looks like a cold, cold wind is blowing in
    I'm taking you home tonight

We're like a train that's left the tracks
    The world is falling apart
I'd gladly help to put it back
But tell me where to start

I'm taking you home (yeah) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Well, the coat you're wearing is way too thin
    I'm taking you home tonight

I read the bad news every day
    It's getting harder to cry
Sometimes I'd like to look away
But I can't close my eyes

I'm taking you home (yeah) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
    next of kin
    I'm taking you home tonight

    Say yes, tonight
Say yes, that my suggestion is right
    Say yes, to me
And that's the way you want it to be

Oh, I'm taking you home (yeah) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Looks like a cold, cold wind is blowing in
    I'm taking you home tonight

Well, life goes by at such a pace
    And trouble's here to increase
I know that we can find the ways
That we can get some peace

I'm taking you home (home) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
Looks like a cold, cold wind is blowing in
    I'm taking you home tonight

    So say yes, tonight
Say yes, that my suggestion is right
    Say yes, to me
And that's the way you want it to be

Well, I'm taking you home (home) tonight
I wanna make sure that you're alright
They say a cold, cold wind is blowing in
The coat you're wearing is way too thin
And notify my next of kin
    I'm taking you home tonight

I always heard it as "coupled with", but "comes with" wouldn't surprise me either.

You got that right! I love that Paul's most recent release of these two wonderful singles leave us with a high-water mark for Paul to lead into his next project!

Home Tonight/In a Hurry ain t even close to Hi,Hi,Hi/C moon- I still own the original 45. It s telling that both songs are still played live. Mull of Kintyre/Girl School-another indisputed clsssic. Still got the original 45

HOME TONIGHT - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG! This is another that could contend for first single! Are those real horns or keyboards, either way it's fantastic! A single that's full of energy and that unmistakable McCartney pop magic! Oh and how great would it sound performed live! Absolutely no doubt it should have been on the album!

Catching up after a few days out of town and mostly avoiding the internet (try it, it's healthy!). Sixty-Second Street is fun and charming and yes, I can definitely imagine Simon and Garfunkel singing it. Frank Sinatra's Party is fun, too. But I'm glad neither made the main album. Neither is quite as special as most of Egypt Station.

I need to catch up. I got side tracked with the start of U2X radio.

I spent entire month listening to U2 albums and bonus tracks. All of them that I have collected over the years. Time to shift to McCartney but this thread is probably at the end now.

Taste of course vary, but Home Tonight blows C-moon totally away! It's not even McCartney's best reggae song, in fact for me it's just ok.

My favorite single from McCartney and Wings was Band on the Run/Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five. I also liked Goodnight Tonight/Daytime Nightime Suffering.

    NEXT ONE
    In a Hurry
A ambitious piece with temposhifts, orchedtrations, a bit of a story and so on. I can see the merits of this one and guess I should like it. Unfortunately I don t connect much with this one. In fact it might be my least favorite from the ES sessions.
To be honest I don t see no particular reason for this song to exist.
I might change though- it s never to late to celebrate

As you said taste vary. I do like Home Tonight -it s catchy and fun. However it s one of many catchy and fun songs Paul has done through the years. C Moon is imo different. It has a vintage Paul melody and is an undisputed classic. In fact I think Hi,Hi,Hi/C Moon is one of the best pop/rock singles of them all -at least in the seventies.

    In A Hurry 12/10

One of my absolute favorites from the sessions! Great vocal where Paul pushes himself vocally more than usual these days. Tons of vocal changes and song changes. Just love it! This one stomps all over C Moon, BeamMeUpGus!

Let s agree that we disagree about this particular song. To me In a Hurry sounds like something from an obscure musical but not in an entirely good way. My feelings towards this mis-guided opus might change. CMoon on the other hand-it s a life-long love. Maybe because I enjoy the silly side of Paul, Maybe because it has a gorgeous melody and a stellar vocal -perfomance. It s a classic.

I think 5/10 is a generous score on that one. Guess it s one of those tracks one either like or not. Im on your side here. My main objection about the song is that it lacks focus and the lyrics tills some kind of story that lacks any kind of meaning.
