He does more than sell concert tickets. His latest album was released in 2018 and has done extremely well both critically and commercially.

Wrong, and you could look it up.

And whoever contends Paul is a novelty act is wrong. Paul has never rested on his laurels by just playing BEATLES songs ...whether you like him or not, Paul has never lost the strong desire to create new material. That is not debatable. He records, therefore he is.

Yes, the McCartney haters need to give it up. It's over, you lost, move on.

No one said a novelty act. They said a nostalgia act. Reading is fundamental.

    Sorry. Thanks. Either way, not.
BTW...It isn't my reading reading fundamentals that are going, it is the old' memory...:magoo:

    cheers!

Yes, he got a number one album. But do you remember how long it took it to fall off the charts entirely?

There is a surprising amount of talk about Olivia Newton-John and Kate blush.

It was #33 on Billboard's list of 2018 rock albums.

The term 'nostalgia act' is used too loosely.

Just because the music is a few decades old doesn't necessarily mean you want to hear it because it 'takes you back'. It may be simply because it still brings you aural pleasure.

I don't want to hear Beethoven's Ninth because I'm nostalgic for the year 1824.

I should make a thread of "popular artists to the rest of the world that this forum is sleeping on."

When Roy Thomas Baker was behind the desk, early Be Bop Deluxe sounded much like a more sophisticated and interesting version of '70s Queen.

The Beatles first and foremost - and all solo efforts, especially those of Macca
    Prog, especially King Crimson
Everybody else although I was delighted to see all the Bill Nelson fans in the forum

We never heard the humor from Styx that we'd hear from Queen.

Wait, so mr roboto was actually a serious song and not a joke? That makes me dislike styx even more. Always thought they were sort of tongue in cheek.

Prince seems incredibly popular here. His RIP tribute thread is massive and rightly so, but it's longer than the also massive Bowie one. That surprised me.

Well the other two Beatles are dead, so hence the McCartney love! ;)

Who cares? It got to number one. Very few people of McCartney's age are still achieving that with albums of new material. It's impressive.

I'm no McCartney worshipper saying this. I've never bought a new Paul McCartney solo album.

The Sweet sometimes sound far more like Queen (or vice versa) than either of those bands.

I'm only on Page 1 (and only on here because I'm waiting for the microwave bell) but does anyone think tallying up all the mentions on the board about the band would be a good measure of popularity?
