That which is old is not necessarily bad.

That which is new is not necessarily good.

That's it "collective nouns", the term escaped me, it's so annoying, can't for the life of get why Americans do it, makes no sense, I mean who is this Led Zeppelin fellow, what does he do, is he singer, does he play an instrument, oh, it's a group, well I'd never of guessed Led Zeppelin is tsskkk, Bloomin' Yanks.they just have to be different ;) ..edit Oh yes, we do say different to, I've been Americanised, Arrggghhhh.

    A) Led Zeppelin is a band.
    B) Led Zeppelin are a band.
    C) Nun of the above.

It's only a week old, exactly! Your Alan Parsons Project thread is bound to be on about page 450 by now and there are probably several Styx threads to choose from.

I can't imagine any sensible ranking of the best albums ever, or the most important bands of all time that doesn't have the Smiths in the top five.

That seems wrong to me. The idea of Prince is fantastic: this horny sex good who could play every instrument and dance like a dream. The problem is the songs...

To me I would put Radiohead in top 5 but I wouldn't put the Smiths anywhere near top 50. I see radiohead mentioned on here a good amount but you are right the smiths are under represented.

I agree, I like some Prince and his best stuff is great, but there's a lot of crap!

My point was that there is Smiths discussion on the forum. And the APP thread album-by-album thread is only two pages.

    Alan Parsons Project album-by-album thread

My friends loved those corporate arena bands and I saw all of them in concert. I never understood the appeal of Styx aside from a few decent songs.

Here in the states, the Smiths have always been an underground band. After a certain point, British bands stopped crossing over.

Led Zeppelin is a collective. A band is a collective. Led Zeppelin is a band.

There aren't many places that I can talk about my favorite bands beyond the obvious list (Beatles etc.)

There are websites for some of my more obscure favorites, but here we are allowed to be critical. Thinking Procol Harum.

Surprised how much love King Crimson gets here. I mean I love them too but not your most mainstream band.

Fun to find threads about Leo Kottke or Steeleye Span.

This is a bad place for your pocketbook. Now I am dreaming of a Tangerine Dream box set with Phaedra in 5.1. Very dangerous.

I saw them in Reno once. Some originals and some newer ones (but this was 35 years ago). The lead singer had a very pronounced boner (quite visible in his tight leather pants). I don't bat that way so it was not a turn on.

I get the size of your generation but am still puzzled to find it big with all.
