    The perfect album doesn't exist!!!

Even on my absolute favorite records I do find one or more average tracks.

    That's a tough one!
I have a cd player with an edit function, which enables me to permanently 'delete' songs I like less.

All cds I play regularly, I have used the edit function on.
One that comes to mind I did not is 'The Black Light' by Calexico... Oh, and its twin 'Hot Rail'.

  3. Very interesting. What brand of CD player do you have that has this feature?

Some Sony cd players feature this. Not all of them. Sony calls it 'Custom File'.
But when you are on the lookout for a decent pre-used player, I can recommend having one with an edit function.
The expensive Sony players (that have an X in their type nr.) usually feature an edit function.
Mine is a cheaper one, still reliable as a rock - it's the CDP-C545.
More stuff can be stored in its memory, like volume level, name and fadeouts.

Obviously, it beats having to program cds every time when you insert one.
This means that the cd player recognizes the cd you have edited. Cool feature, isn't it?

  5. Absolutely … on both counts!

I have a Sony 5-Disc unit very much like the one you pictured. I had no idea it had that particular feature, Guess I should have consulted the Owner's Manual …

Good luck, if you have 'custom file'.o_O It will keep you occupied for the rest of the day. It is tedious work:pineapple: but rewarding.

Too numerous to list, and liking doesn't = perfection. I like every song (for example) on every Zeppelin album, but that doesn't mean I think they're perfect. At any rate, I'd be here all day listing albums I like every song on.

I only have one: The Joshua Tree.

That said, a more accurate description of it might be that there are no songs that I really dislike as opposed to fully liking every song.

  14. The Joshua Tree is a masterpiece. My favorite U2 album, but overexposure ( both the album and the band ) throughout TJT's first couple of years ( and it kinda became an albatross around their neck ) has hurt it's appeal, in a general sense, IMHO.

When I listen to it, the only track I skip is "Trip Through Your Wires". That track just doesn't seem to fit, for me.

Red Hill Mining Town and Exit are probably my bottom two from the album, but their inclusion doesn't really bother me. TTYW is actually one of my favorite U2 songs, period, haha.

This is harder than I realized for popular music. Even my very favorites usually seem to have at least one song that seems like filler to me, or at least don't resonate with me at all. Ones I can think of that don't feel that way seem to be older albums:
    • Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
    • Pink Floyd - DSOTM
    • Boston - Boston
In Jazz, one that I have been playing recently stands out:
    • Duke Ellington - Masterpieces by Ellington
