Yes, I know that. That's why I don't want to see them crushed, like they were on the remasters that came out about a decade ago. Was Please digital? I thought for sure that was analog. Actually was digital. Totally... Clearly, you haven't heard the loudness wars remasters that were done about a decade ago...
I don't think the Pet Shop Boys themselves can be held accountable for any subsequent remasters - unless they were personally involved in their creation?
Well I don't have the answer - I was saying were they actively involved in the remastering or did they just 'sign it off'? I don't know if you can blame them for the remasters if the actual remastering wasn't done by them or in their control?
Yes, funny. That's what's stated in the booklet. But somehow the spars code on that same booklet says "ADD".
Yep those remasters were brutal and I'll keep saying what happened to the high end on Behaviour. The remaster destroyed the sound of that album big time.
Good question. Unless EMI had complete control. I still would love to see the look on Neil's face if he was to hear the remaster of Behaviour and then the original. I guess the boys didn't have to sign off on the remasters sound quality before releasing them.
I think they've done a good enough job producing their b-sides but my favorite albums by them used an outside producer.
One thing the reissue isn't is a Please project. Parlophone looked completely nonplussed when my contact asked them.
The only thing I've seen recently is this: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/pet-shop-boys-album-discussions.388880/page-48#post-13254745
I cannot see why any of their albums ever needed remastering. They were so great to begin with. Even the original recordings of Please, Actually and Behaviour sound as fresh and immaculately produced now as they did back then.
I think all of them are available on CD single. I'm sure of of "It's a sin" and "Always on my mind" (because I have those).
I have the Japanese CDs of everything up to Bilingual. They all sound fantastic with a great dynamic range. I also have every PSB album on vinyl and I actually prefer the CDs for most of them.
I'd be really happy to see a PSB reissue project go forward. In fact, I've been sort of waiting several years for such a thing. If they can make it happen in good style, they'd certainly get my money. RH
No they arent. There is the standard 12" version usually on the cd singles (heart has 2 mixes, what have i has 2) but lots of remixes including it's a sin and always on my mind have not been grouped together. That's why fans have been screaming for a completes cd singles package for years.
And the unfortunate thing about it, if it does come to fruition is the maxed compression they may use (Format), at least with the 91 Mode boxes we got a good sounding set...
