I haven't listened to Trey Anastasio Band in a long time, and picked up Plasma after hearing a few people here recommend it. Wow, this is a nice live album. Sometimes in the past I thought the TAB horns were a little over-done, but everything is working perfectly for me on this one. I can't believe I didn't give this a shot when it first came out.

Anyway just a short side track for me... Back to the Phish soon.

I never bought into the Sunday show thing, and man did yesterday help prove my point. I can’t reasonably think of a Set Two that would be more disappointing. What a weird way to end a tour.

Yeah, I was really pleasantly surprised when I listened to that one for the first time last year. I'd seen a couple TAB shows in '99 and '03, so sort of around that time, but not quite the same lineup, and Plasma was better than anything I heard live without Santana guesting.

All weekend I kept getting asked what got me into Phish.

In my head, what happenned was that I always knew of them (Can't be into the Dead and not at least be aware, ya know?) but felt I needed to wait longer before lunging off the "deep end", so to speak.

Now that I've really cooled down off the Dead for the moment I've been able to move into Phish, ya know what I mean? Still love, adore and collect the Dead regularly, just I've hit the next phase of things, ya know?

But anyways, I guess the first time I REALLY got them on my radar was with Fare Thee Well cuz of Trey being apart of it. That made me look into things a little, but I knew I'd want more so I held back for a bit, haha.

But anyways, people kept asking what got me into them and it occured to me that the reason I like them is they are basically - in the most general sense (as they do all kinds of stuff) really a kind of combo of the Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa. And Zappa and the Dead both changed my life, so....

Just random thoughts while eating my sandwich :p

    Carry on!

So I started to relisten to my first show, 12/6/19, but then a few songs in I realized I wanted to wait to rewatch the webcast instead :p

That means it's back to 2018 for me! Hell, I got five shows in, might as well keep going!

    7/24/18 San Francisco

    Rockin 46 Days to start....

A few of us were there

I’ve not listened back but it was an enjoyable show at the time. I’m curious what you think if it and the forum run (which I also did)

@wavethatflag and I attended that one together. I’m sure a few others on this thread were there too. Both second set jams at that run were very good.

I feel like the Sunday thing was true for a while but the band caught wind of it and started to mix things up. In the last 2 years I've seen better Saturdays than Sundays a number of times. And yes last nights second set was a serious clunker.

I really wanted to be there I caught BGC shows in 12, 13, and 16 but I couldn't go in 14 because the shows were in October my job won't allow me to take vacation Oct/Nov/Dec. I would have gone in 18 but the girlfriend bought us plane tickets to Paris that same week I couldn't really say no though part of me wanted to. :D

I would've loved to be there just to check so many things off the list :p

That being said, from what I've read, it was a very sloppy night for Trey and there wasn't much real jamming - hence disappointment.

    Sure I would've had a friggin' blast though :)

Sick, jammed out 46 Days to open, a RAGING McGrupp that is really powerful, and now my favorite TAB-Done-By-Phish song, Pigtail

    Awesome. :)

Super jelly of you guys that were there!

A Song I Heard The Ocean Sing - major rager!

Rough transition back into the song "reprise" after the jam, but the jam itself was sick

Mercury - rough compositionally, but the jam is terrific! Spacey and melodic without being too noodly

    Just right

And then BAM! into Carini like we are hit by a car :)

    @Crispy Rob , @wavethatflag

    7/24/18 is absolutely smashing!!!!

IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER!!!!

    THIS CARINI IS INCREDIBLE! :D

Dude, I could listen to this major key jam all-frickin'-day
    :bigeek:

    CRAP

I think 7/20/18, Gorge 1, was my previous "favorite show of 2018 so far" but this gig is either tied with it or kicking it to the curb. Incredible.

Ah yes, I enjoyed that Guyute. Not usually one of my favorites but that one was pretty powerful.

I believe that Carini is considered one of the best jams of the whole summer

My first show also! I had been listening to Phish for about a year at that point and had plenty of Phishy friends in college in San Diego, but I was living at my folks' new place that summer didn't know anyone. Went solo & had a blast.

You weren't at the BGCA shows in 2012?

I was on vacation during that run. It’s a good one though, I’d bought the Live Phish CD/ticket package and although I sold my tickets, I received the run on CD a few weeks after the shows.

I was at those shows, the only shows I did in 2012 and they were epic that Sunday night especially!
