After the other pick 3-5 flicks …..
thought id start one for one of my faves; Donald Sutherland.
At one point I tried to watch all his movies but some of his early ones were hard to find so I gave up
So lets here it for a Canadian treasure!

Ordinary People - the scene on the golf course and that final scene with timothy are really well done

Citizen X -- a very understated role where he plays a Russian general involved in the investigation of a Serial killer.

 

was debating Don't Look Now, he's really good in that

 

Always felt his character in Kelly’s Heroes almost ruined the film. Shoehorn in a 1960’s hippie in a film set in the 1940’s. Uh huh.

An underrated actor and apparently a really nice guy- I had a friend who worked with him on a piece for Major League Baseball (he was a huge Montreal Expos fan) and after the shoot he hung out with the crew, even offering to help them carry and pack away the film equipment!

Ordinary People - how he was not nominated is still baffling. One of the best performances of 1980, and yes, up there with De Niro in Raging Bull and Sissy Spacek in Coal Miner's Daughter.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers - a great lead - likable and smart.

Trust - TV mini-series where he played J. Paul Getty and he was incredible.

 

His role in Backdraft, while 5 minutes, was really scary. Still sticks with me

I liked him in the ones mentioned, particularly in Don't Look Now and Body Snatchers. He has a very natural quality in his acting.
