The same way orchestral players keep their 60 stringed instruments in tune.

That's always been one of my favorite pictures. Here are two more from those Time Out sessions.

A friend of mine bought the old console from Criteria studios in Miami. It only partially works and the channels that aren't broken have a sluggish, muddy sound to them but there were stacks of classic records done on this console like Saturday Night Fever, Joe Walsh's Smoker You Drink album, Hotel California, One Of These Nights, Crosby Stills and Nash CSN, We're An American Band, 461 Ocean Blvd., Grease soundtrack, If You Think I'm Sexy, Margaretaville and the list goes on and on and on...

The second picture is the monitor section with the curved faders.

Yes. Never saw that one until they released the 50th anniversary CD/DVD last year.

I don't know where the hell the first two are of mastering rooms except the last one.:)

Here's a couple shots of my analog tracking room during the recording of Jack Ingram's last album and my two digital studios. Sorry about the low light. These are stills from my video camera.

That is John Kurlander engineering. And it would have been 1975 or later, as that is when Studio 3 got a Neve and the TG 12345 Mk 4 from Studio 3 moved into Studio 1.

I believe that was CBS London.

Steve, I hope if I ever get out to tour your place that I'll find you in a jacket and tie!! Okay, a skinny tie would be fine. ;)

The second photo, Benny Goodman...I wonder if that was Liederkranz Hall in New York, which was used a lot by in the 30s and 40s, before the famous 30th Street studio.

I read somewhere (can't find it now) that it was converted into a CBS TV studio, destroying the amazing acoustics. Long since demolished.

This link documents the recordings Victor made there in the 20s but no mention of Columbia's recordings. It's a mystery.
