It doesn't appear so, unfortunately. The official publicity packshot doesn't show a special package or poster.

The official packshot for last year's Piper did show the outer envelope and poster.

Ahhhh, import then. I thought you meant "normal" UK releases. That's the US release, which as usual had to be different for advertising reasons. They didn't want just a cow on the front, as they feared nobody would know who it was.

    From Consequence of Sound:

Next month, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason will take his new band, Saucerful of Secrets, out on their inaugural North American tour. The band’s set is expected to play music from the Syd Barrett-era of Pink Floyd, including The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets. Meanwhile, David Gilmour is auctioning off most of his guitar collection, and Roger Waters is out there saving refugee children.
    Made me chuckle

Potentially of interest to those of us who nerd out over such things, this release is PFRLP29. Last year's mono Piper was PFRLP26. That leaves 27 & 28 unaccounted for…

As I read the comments on this thread, it reminds me of all the threads I got involved in regarding the constantly postponed release of the Pulse concert on DVD. That was painful. It was hard for me because I lost my laserdisc copy in a divorce.

Can we get some commentary on the differences between the stereo and mono versions of this album, from those who are experienced with both?

There have been a couple. I think I'm going to try to find the mono version on the internet.

Edit: It's all over youtube. :)

What you see is what you'll get!

I can only assume that they consider the Saucerful cover perfect as is and they couldn't possible improve upon it!

I wasn't singling you out. For years I didn't know the difference.

That being said, in general I prefer the stereo mix to the mono mix about 90% of the time, mostly for the same reasons you spoke of.

I think personally, there's more differences between the mono and stereo mix of this album than there was on Piper. I've wanted this for years, now I can buy a copy for a reasonable amount of money. Don't know how limited it'll be though...... I heard Piper was limited to around 15,000 copies world wide..... That's not very limited in my book

For those of you that want this on CD, there is a freely available high quality vinyl needle drop that has been ripped to FLAC files on the interweb....... I know where to find it, and it's good. But I can't give the link here for obvious reasons. It is being offered by one of our members on their own website :)

Not always the same. As with The Beatles albums, there are often dedicated mono mixes distinct from the stereo ones.
