The juxtaposition of this post and the one right before it is ... shall we say ironic?

PS. There's still no news about the release.

Much like the Beatles CD press release back in 2009, when there is a release date, you'll see it in this thread about 3000 times, worry not.

Pro tip: the thread title will be changed to reflect the announcement when it becomes official so you can avoid having to be annoyed by all the rest of us who want to carry on until it’s official just by not clicking until it’s been updated. Drummers choice…

Interesting read on the great Austrian Floyd site Pulse & Spirit. If I understand correctly, according to a 1977 interview with Brian Humphries The Floyd had rehearsels and an actual Animals concert filmed for testing purposes. Unclear if these recordings still exist.

    Thank you for sharing.

From that article, a link to an interesting document. Warning: it's in French

"Animals" was a bit of a dip for me, despite the fact that "Dogs" comes close to the very best work they've ever done: would maybe have got there for me, but the synthesised barking, or whatever it is, in the middle stops it hitting "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" perfection. The album was a good attempt, though, at something different but one "Pigs on a Wing" was enough, the attack on Mary Whitehouse dates another song, and is a tad juvenile, and "Sheep" has a nice intro from Wright and ending from Gilmour but just does not feel like it's much of a song in the middle. I don't blame anyone too much for it being flawed - I understand why Gilmour and Wright wanted t keep material for their solo albums and Waters was left to do the heavy lifting. I'd actually only buy it again if some interesting extras were added.

How about this: they add some interesting extras, then everyone's happy.

I reckon just release the durn thing... if there are any extras, they'll argue that it favours someone or another's legacy, there'll be another argument, and it won't get released for another three years.

It's lossy too, despite the hype!

  18. Well, if this is a real "Monitor Mix" Soundboard, then you can hear exactly why the Floyd won't release these things. Just because you think it's a good idea, doesn't mean that it is...

Maybe the U.S. SBDs sound better than the Euro ones. But, we can only hope unless a US SBD comes out eventually.

I mean, it's possible since SBDs from Led Zeppelin's UK 73 Tour sound great while SBD's from US 73 sound kinda bad, so maybe the reverse could be true here.

This is not monitor mix, you heard the echo of the stadium, you don't hear the echo in monitor mix, otherwise the musicians wouldn't be synchronize with the band. It's a bootleg that someone upload on youtube and put the information that is from monitor.

I have heard that bootleg before. Too bad about its audio quality, I think I like those German/Austrian performances better than the famous Oakland concert
