There's already the ongoing thread below ... maybe someone can request the two be combined somehow... Am I hallucinating or did Pink Floyd just release a new single?
It's not difficult to see why this has been released under the Pink Floyd name. Equally, it's not difficult to understand why some would have difficulty considering it a "Pink Floyd" track.
They're not putting this out because they feel it's a new beginning for Pink Floyd. It's using the PF name to reach a much greater audience for the cause.
Is there any way to combine this thread with the other one about the same topic? Perhaps a better title could be used... Pink Floyd new song - Hey Hey Rise Up
What bothers me is the font on the cover (they were too lazy not to use The Wall one?), although since it's for a good cause, these are minor complaints.
I actually believe very strongly that if Roger hadn't turned into "one of those guys" , we would be now looking at a full blown reunion, as David understands that Roger has power too and all efforts are needed to end this war. David expressed his disappointment with Roger and he's not alone: ‘This is a crazy, unjust attack’: Pink Floyd re-form to support Ukraine
Always happy to hear what David Gilmour puts out in whatever capacity he decides to do so. It is unfortunate it takes such an awful event to stir the Old Gods, but hey.
Actually in the 2019 podcast for his guitar auction he said something like «I guess it is me and Nick now. Never say never».
I take the font to mean that this song shares some kind of spirit/intent/theme that is similar or reminiscent of The Wall, and least in their minds. But maybe I'm reading too much into it. It's not like the post-Waters Floyd has overused this font on recent projects or anything, so it does get one's attention when applied here.
