Has Mr Angry continued to maintain his silence over this release? LMFAO at the thought of him seething (in silence for once!) with his customary impotent rage over it being released under the PF name. Awesome! As for those grumbling about the lyrics not being in English, would you have preferred more artless gibberish from Ms Samson?
In my opinion Polly Samson is a terrific songwriter. She has contributed to a fair share of beautiful Pink Floyd songs, I can mention Poles Apart, Take It Back, High Hopes.
I have no interest in the physical release (the artwork remains unspeakably awful) but I will be curious to hear this B-side whenever it hits streaming/download sites
The artwork consists of a sunflower, which is Ukraine's national flower, and "Pink Floyd" in yellow and blue, which are the colours of the flag of Ukraine. I can't think of a more proper way to illustrate the purpose of this single. I'm sorry to hear that you think it's awful, but people are entitled to their own opinions of course.
I know, and I've elucidated my dislike for the stretched and amateurish typeface that lets the whole thing down. Should have had a proper designer do it... at least for the physical release! A rush-released digital single I can understand being somewhat sloppy, but it's extended to merch and now this...
There have been plenty of Pink Floyd releases since he was a member of the band. I'd be surprised if he cared at all by this point. I at least hope he would appreciate the sentiment, if not the music itself--but again, would probably be more surprised if he cared at all.
Yeah, this is an instance where the b-side is probably of more interest to me. If that's available as a download, I may be happy enough just buying it and creating the single in my iTunes library. Though I think I have just about everything as a CD, so buying it might be nice to complete the collection.
Roger explicitly said he hated all the Ukraine flags that were going up after the invasion, so the post - although a bit hyperbolic - wasn't entirely cut from whole cloth.
Ah, I wasn’t familiar with Roger’s comment. But yeah, I’m guessing he’s mostly past caring what his former band mates do—at least when it’s not something that involves him, like, say, the liner notes of an album reissue he wrote/played on…
the video just crossed the 10 million views mark on youtube this morning .... I've had a tab open to it for 2+ months, I replay it constantly (muted) .... so no kidding, I've added about 200 of those views ! bought the download twice, and yes I'll be buying the cd.
The fact that one person replaying it so often still only makes up such a minuscule number of the total shows that this definitely reached a lot of people.
Thanks just bought now. I have all 3 versions now on pre order I will probably never play nice for my collection. I think for all three I paid £32 with delivery
