  1. Me too (liking the cover a little with the text from the posters/promos).

I'm not exactly warming to the new (real) cover yet, but my initial negative reaction is waining a bit.

Someone posted this on twitter. I think the image is more evocative with the empty boat.

It's one of the 7 gif images from the sequence. There's one w/o the boat as well. But the man in the boat is symbolic of Rick so it's appropriate that he's included.

Cover is still better, and, IMO, more in-line with the Floyd than the Life of Pi parody of a cover, but what is important is the music. :p

Nah, worst Floyd cover would go to Ummagumma.

Without all those stars in front of the image, it could be a great cover.

Amazon taxes us in Massachsetts now, the Moose doesn't.

  17. I agree the symbolism of the man is appropriate (or maybe not inappropriate) -- but the image of the boat without the man seems a LOT more Hipgnosis-like.

Like 'night-and-day' more like what I'd expect from Hipgnosis.

(Not that I care all that much about the cover, one way or the other, honestly.)

I didn't know about the CD/BD release so that is the one I am getting now. I guess I will have to make my own scarf and marbles.

I find it encouraging that they seemed to have conceived of this album in terms of sides. Even the CD track listing on the Pink Floyd site breaks it down into sides instead of just a collection of 18 tracks. I cannot wait to hear this album!

I think it's just the whole "half religious brochure, half romance novel" aspect that is bugging me. It's more symbolic than abstract, and I've come to expect abstract in Pink Floyd albums covers. I'll get over it though.

Pre-ordered the box set. It's actually a pretty good price... The way Floyd has been, I was expecting to pay about $50. ;) This is exciting!

  24. There are several PF covers I don't exactly love, but I've grown to like most of them - to varying degrees, of course.

The cover was done by Aubrey "Po" Powell, who is one half of Hipgnosis -- the half that's still alive. I really love it. I cannot believe people are preferring that fan cover.
