what about the outtakes/jams? Slippery guitar is lovely!

In fact all of them are great. Makes me think that Nervana was very close to be on TDB given the many iterations and demos it has.

The Later Years is about to change - for the better - the notion that many fans have of Pink Floyd (1987). Of course, if they decide to embrace this era openly and without bias.

Pink Floyd in the 70's was outstanding and truly unique, however, the incarnation of this band from the 80's onwards also has huge merits on their work, one worthy of being re-evaluated and re-examined by everyone.

I want to re-post this: I loved "Rick's Theme" and its simplicity. "Blues One" conjures up a few chords by Rick Wright on 'Wet Dream'. "David's Blues" takes me back to the glorious DG album of the 70s. "Nervana" is a much more developed and rounded version from the one we had the chance to listen to on TER.

It is pretty clear that during the TDB sessions this band was really inspired and with enough material to produce another album some years later.

I can't wait to find out what Ian Emes has produced around TER. The teaser is truly incredible!

    The jams are really wonderful.

I've listened to Blues 1 about 6 times now, I just love it. It's organic and loose, but still Floyd.

Really makes you wonder what they could've done with another album in the late 90s.

I'm not complaining. That looks a 100x better than most, nowadays rock songs tend to have DR3-5.

Money from the original Delicate is almost 10 minutes long. I highly doubt it is cut. Do you know for sure it is?

I would have preferred the WYWH outtake from the highlight set but you’re right, it’s what’s inside that counts! Totally agree with the post above that having all this material in one place really helps recast the era. Really been enjoying this set.

I'm yet to receive my box-set, but I've just compared the original DSoT release with the new mixes from the Later Years sampler. I'm no audio expert but these are my initial thoughts.

    1. Learning to Fly - the drums on the original version sound so much more deep and bombastic. The whole song seems to have a nice 3D feel to it, which makes it a joy to listen to. On the new version, the drums sound thinner and the whole mix seems a little flatter.

    2. Us and Them - during the "high" vocals parts, like "Forward he cried...", "Haven't you heard..." and "Out of the way...", David's voice is front and centre on the original mix, which sounds really nice and powerful. On the new mix, David's vocals are at the same volume as the backing vocals and the whole thing is merged with all the music - something like R.E.M.'s earlier albums like Murmur, where all the vocals and instruments were at the same volume. Listening to that immediately after the original mix is a little painful.

    3. Run Like Hell - the new mix has clear advantages in that it is longer and has David's "thank you, good night" at the end. The striking difference between the 2 mixes is that, in the original, David's parts and Guy's parts of the vocals were on separate channels whereas on the new mix, both are in the centre. It doesn't spoil the song in anyway . It's just different. I also think Roger's screams are more audible on the new mix, so bonus points for that!

I must admit that I didn't have any complaints when listening to the songs on the sampler by themselves. It's only when I did a comparison that I found the original mix scoring more points on 2 tracks. If I listen just to the new version, I don't think I'll have much of an issue.

Overall, I'm glad the new version will be a complete show and the video is certainly more exciting. However, I won't be getting rid of my original DSoT anytime soon.
