It was fairly obvious that the cinema screening was leading to a standalone Christmas release of DSOT. With the postponement of the screening, it seems that we’ll have a Floydless Christmas this year. I expect a lot of options, including standalone CD, DVD and Blu-ray packages and a big box with everything on. Also, my guess is that they’re gonna tack in the extra tracks into the original film, to make the completists like me buy the whole thing all over again.
I’ve got five children, so they clubbed together, although two of the boys paid the lions share. I’m really pleased to own the box and the item I’ve probably played the most, is the DSOT film.
Yeah it would of been a nice touch to have that in the box as well. Its omission as well at best guess explains over the last few years TV stations were broadcasting it more regularly in up scaled HD. Good too know DSOT will get a separate independent release in the future, which i will buy lol
I came back to this set recently, and I still can't get over how good DSOT is in both 2CD and Blu-ray format. The new remaster and re-edit on the film is just amazing, it's shot to the top of my favourite PF concerts to pop on. I really enjoyed looking through the photo books and tour books as well, really happy with the set. It's great to have all the 5.1 material in one spot too, I had the DB 5.1 DVD and the Endless River deluxe set, but this way I just open up one box and everything I need is there. Mine was 75% paid for thanks to birthday and xmas vouchers, so I can understand why people are unhappy with what you get for the money.
There's a really interesting interview with Guy. All the questions get asked about many things Floyd. Bassist Guy Pratt on Touring With Pink Floyd and the Time He Nearly Joined the Smiths
Delicate Sound of Thunder (2019 Expanded Remix) That's the MP3 pre-order page in construction at the moment. CD should be available on 20 November.
All the info on the stand-alone release is available on the Pink Floyd website HERE. Looks like there's a deluxe set including the two CDs, blu-ray, DVD, postcards, etc. Then a single DVD. Single blu-ray. Double CD. Triple vinyl record. Released November 18th.
Please Note that the DVD and BluRay have 16 tracks. The 2CDs & 3LPs have all 23 tracks. If you have The Later Years box then the 3LP release is the main draw here. The 5 bonus tracks film (Yet Another Movie --> A New Machine Pt.2) is only available on deluxe edition (2CD + Blu-Ray + DVD), the blu-ray or DVD stand-alone edition only has the 16 tracks.
oh man, I'm ALL IN for the vinyl release of the complete DSOT. About fu*king time! So will the BluRay on the Deluxe feature the missing tracks tacked in within the film or as extras? If they're tacked in (as I suppose they will), then it's a mischievous move to get the fans to buy the big box all over again. Oh and great cover art!
