'Ultimate Mixes' are remixes from the original multi-track tapes and are intended to be the best recreations of the original mixes with an emphasis on overall clarity, especially with respect to John's voice.
'Elements Mixes' highlight or isolate certain elements of the multi-track recordings (vocals, guitar, piano, strings, etc).

I got the single CD yesterday. First listen now.
At about 30 seconds in and I love it already. Thank God it's not the Ear Bud Mix that Sean did to last year's compilation.
    Hold On John just started

    Cookie!

Not a bad way to spend $12.19

Bass is good, drums are good, guitars are good, John's voice oh my!

Cher was on Stephen Colbert the other night and told a great story about Phil Spector...First, did y'all know that at 16, Cher, who never sang professionally before, was a back up singer for Phil Spector? He just needed a voice as the main back up got a flat or something.... He didn't care... I forgot which songs she said but they were big hits.

Anyhow, after non stop recording for days, once finished, Spector got loaded on who knows what and went to the airport. His flight was delayed and Spector called Sonny to help him get up and onto the plane. He was too tired so he sent Cher who dragged him and pushed him into the plane.

    Cher is a riot.

When it comes to Phil Spector, almost nothing surprises me...unless it was about him doing something "normal"

Funny thing that mixes from GST 2020 and POB 2021 are the same. On Gimme Some Truth compilation they are just simply about 2 dB louder.

For those in the know, does the France and Japan first press sound exactly the same as the -1U/-1U UK first press? Or would that be impossible....

I played around with my receiver's settings and all is working as it should now. I did have some kind of processing on; just took me a while to figure out how to turn it off!

Yeah and a lot of the Special Thanks people didn't either.
What did Dhani, Akiko Ono, Barbara Starr, and others contribute to this recording and remix?

I just found it odd. Paul I would think is in the family, maybe not.

I don't think there's any issue with Paul about this, certainly not from his perspective anyway, as he has been helping promote today's POB Twitter listening party

Well, Barbara’s husband and Dhani’s Dad are on it. Maybe they would have helped with the project - clearance of photos, general info.

Here's another question for ya all... (since i don't have the box or the two cd excerpt of it either, but wondering/thinking what to get)

I'm listening to the nine or ten tracks on the 'John Lennon Anthology' which come from the plastic ono band sessions (great stuff, too!) and wondering, whats the overlap between whats on that and the 'second disc' in the two disc version (presumably the same as the second disc of the big box?) ? Wondering, given that I have the Lennon Anthology, what the two cd version will give me, if anything, that's 'new'?

Yes it is all about perspective.
Like I said I got the single CD and I didn't see the reasons for all the thank-yous.
It looks like a shout out to family and friends to me.
    no problem

Paul got a thank you on the Gimme Some Truth set as, from memory, they used parts of an interview of his for some of the track commentary. As far as I've seen, and I've not read the whole thing, they haven't used any in this so that'll be why he's not mentioned in the thank yous, no ulterior motive.
