    I voted for...
    No Money Down
    Jaguar And Thunderbird
    You Never Can Tell
    Promised Land

Run Rudolph Run for me is a Christmas song and doesn't fit with the flow of the album.

My Ding-A-Ling (single edit) also (to me) doesn't fit with the flow of the album.

Yes, but my point was to maximize all of the space on a cd with his best songs and compile a single disc compilation.

If you go by the most covered tracks from the list of 39 I posted, the choices would be in order:

    Promised Land
    You Never Can Tell
    Run Rudolph Run
    No Money Down

Personally, I am not much of a fan of You Never Can Tell. From the choices I posted, I prefer Dear Dad, Jaguar And Thunderbird or Little Marie.

Even though I like the track, I also viewed I Want To Be Your Driver as an odd choice for the Great Twenty-Eight considering what was omitted. Tulane is probably a better choice for a more obscure track.

Anything but "My Ding-a-ling" and I'm good.

I never want to see Christmas songs on otherwise non-Christmas collections. Promised Land is the biggest omission. But what song would it replace?

It doesn't necessarily have to replace anything as the cd version of the album is between 68-69 minutes. My goal with this this thread was to have people create the best single disc Chuck Berry compilation by adding songs to the Great Twenty-Eight.

Run Rudolph Run is too great to leave off in my opinion.

Promised Land is THE glaring omission. One of Berry's three of four greatest songs and MIA on that compilation. I could vote for "No Money Down" or "You Can Never Tell" too, and even "Run Rudolph Run," but really, I think a producer could assemble a perfectly fine 30 song Berry starter anthology without either of those and be OK, but to omit "Promised Land," that's like doing a Bruce Springsteen anthology and leaving off "Thunder Road." To me its omission was always a fatal flaw in The Great 28 and the reason why I never could recommend that as a good Berry anthology.

I never understood why Promised Land was omitted in favor of I Want To Be Your Driver.

This was tougher than I thought! I went with:
    • Wee Wee Hours
    • No Money Down
    • Run Rudolph Run
    • You Never Can Tell
Promised Land was definitely in the mix, but it appears to be doing fine without my vote!

I would have difficulty picking among about 6 of these tracks.

Good that they added "Our Little rendezvous"' "Little Marie", "Never Can Tell", "Promised Land".
This Super Deluxe Edition is THE fundamental rock and roll collection that every rock fan should have.
It should be standard issue :)

It's too bad that they did not include Jaguar And Thunderbird as well.

I don't know about the history of the Great 28, but it was the first Berry CD I was able to buy. I was actually glad to get it despite the items I know were omitted to make the 28 cut. I was taken aback somewhat by the inclusion of I want to be your driver since I had never heard it. But after I played it a couple of times it became one of my favorite tracks. The only way I found to make sure I had all the tracks was to buy the Bear Family box set that came out a couple of years ago! The good news for us is there are several packages still available with the massive catalog Berry had.

Yes, I prefer Tulane and Our Little Rendezvous but I only wanted to include the other charting songs as choices since there were so many.
