Do you think it compares favorably with Bringing...?

Chimes of Freedom - but overall I think it's one of his most boring albums.

Looks like I just tipped the scales from Chimes to Pages... for now! It's a close race with It Ain't Me Babe still in the running.

I read that he regrets recording it.

Either way, I don't care if the artist likes a song or not. It isn't going to affect my enjoyment of the song.

My Back Pages, with Chimes a close second. I especially like that line, "Equality I spoke the word as if a wedding vow..." I also like how melodic it is, and Chimes, while the lyrics are brilliant, is a bit more monotonous.

    Of course. Fair enough.

It's just mind-boggling to me that he chose "Plain D" over the lovely "Mama, You Been on My Mind," not to mention an early version of "Mr. Tambourine Man." Perhaps the album's rather rushed recording schedule (a single evening session in June to meet an August release date) led to some hasty choices.

I think it's a charming and intimate record. A classic

I am guessing he was in a bitter and spiteful mood when he finalized the tracklist. You never really know with Bob. :)

I like my early Dylan to be short, unconfessional, possessing of an imaginative title and frequently performed on stage. So you can guess which one I went for.

Yesterday I bought an Spanish pressing of this album.

Well it turns out to be a mispress.

Side 2 is "Slow train coming" side 2!!

    Seriously, what a letdown.
At least is the not so good side, the one that includes Ballad in plain D

Love this track but this whole album is a transcendent masterpiece regardless.

Yes. But I like all Dylan albums.

Might be worth checking how rare this is.

I can't see why anyone would want to have this.
At least I don't have Slow train coming LP so I can somewhat enjoy that side 2

This is a known, documented mis-pressed LP. As always, the superb Searching for a Gem has the lowdown (scroll approximately 80% down the page):

Another Side Of Bob Dylan 1964

The album was re-released in 1982 with a new catalogue number CBS S 32034. The first 1982 release shown is unusual in that it is mispressed and has Side 2 of Slow Train Coming on Side 2 of the record - the label is correct! This is very rare as it was quickly withdrawn.

Great album, thanks for not reducing it to one song with one of those retarded weakest link threads. It Ain't Chimes of my Back Pages.
