For once someone else's song beats Dylan's, ''A Satisfied Mind'' is an amazing song.

"Pressing On" is my choice, though most of these songs work much better in concert. We do need a Gospel Tour release!

"Solid Rock" or "Pressing On" or "In the Garden" — can't pick just one.

Another one of Bob's albums that I just can't get excited about. Too much fundamental Bob preaching at me. I recall going into an independent record store and being surprised that the owner was playing Saved, as I normally would hear the new independent new wave - Dylan was very uncool then. When I spoke to him about it he went on about all the musicians who were involved (eg. Spooner Oldham, Jerry Wexler), and I can remember wondering how he could know all that info. Since my younger days I've been able to learn the music history as well.

Here's what the original and reissued cover looks like:

Question: The cover of the reissue (on the right) was originally on the inner sleeve of the original LP (on the left). But what was on the inner sleeve of the reissue?
Or was it reissued in a plain white inner sleeve?

Yep, the original cover was downright creepy. It didn't help that I first laid eyes on it coming home from a funeral.

This is my least favorite Dylan album by miles.

This is what Wikipedia said about the cover:

The cover of Saved originally featured a painting by Tony Wright of Jesus Christ's hand reaching down to touch the hands of his believers. However, this cover was subsequently replaced by a painting of Dylan on stage performing during that time period in order to downplay the overtly religious nature of the original cover. It has since been changed back on some re-releases. A quote inside the sleevenotes reads: "'Behold, the days come, sayeth the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah' (Jeremiah 31:31)"

Sorry Arnold, I can't comment on the reissue, I only have the original album (stored away somewhere).

Yes, I too only have an original; hence, my question about the inner sleeve of the reissue.

Contenders: Saved, Covenant Woman, Pressing On, In the Garden, and Are You Ready...with my vote going to Saved. For now.

I got rid of this one. Didn't do anything for me at all. With the exception of I Believe In You I don't like Slow Train Coming either. I do like a lot of Shot of Love though.

I honestly have no idea which is my favourite, which is rare. I went for Covenant woman, but I could have picked Pressing on, Are you ready, What can I do for you, In the garden...

Nice record. You gotta love Dylan´s dodgy albums...

not his strongest album, but still great. solid rock just nudged out saved for me ... bootleg 13 is fantastic also

  24. Solid Rock is the only song that I enjoy. I haven't heard this in 10 years or so and even though I liked the recent bootleg series volume, it hasn't inspired me to give this album another spin.
