Excuse me, do you own the 'Dookie' album by Green Day?
    Do you dig the album?
How many copies/pressings of the album do you have now?
How many copies/pressings of the album have you owned over
the years: cassettes, records, cds, digital files/downloads, ...?

'All officially recorded and released music by Green Day' means:
all studio albums, all live albums,
all singles (both A-sides and B-sides), bonus tracks, outtakes,
alternative takes, rarities, oddities, remixes, ..., etc.

Who am I to judge [IMG] what is the essential/core music by Green Day?
Nevertheless, perhaps the following might be helpful:
'All essential music (incl. 'Dookie') by Green Day' includes:
all essential/core (important, best) studio albums and at least one live album.

Don't have Dookie, although love some of the radio hits. Still fun.

I think I have everything that's followed ironically, all on CD including 24/96k American Idiot. No vinyl. Some of those early releases like Warning if I remember correctly, are jaw-dropping audiophile quality records.

No Green Day. I'd rather just play The Ramones.

Dookie and a lot of their other music. Most of this stuff I bought for my kid but since he already has the CDs or downloads they are records that are in my collection. I think I have all the records except Nimrod, 21st Century Breakdown, and the Uno, Dos, Tres trilogy. Some are original vinyl and some are the re-releases. I would have none of these if not for my kid but I really like Warning and American Idiot. I have The Network on vinyl too.

    No Green Day at all.

I have a good friend who loves Green Day and has played them for me time after time... the light has never come on for me.

I don't have Dookie (or any other Green Day albums) but I've heard it. To me, it was basically just a rather generic punk album, not nearly as definitive as London Calling, the Sex Pistols album, or the first Ramones album. I've heard other music by Green Day that I really like, after they branched out and did some very melodic songs. I just don't see Dookie as their finest moment.

I loved green day when basketcase came out and my dad bought me dookie on green vinyl. I soon got bored with the band but I have bought most of their CDs just to see if I changed my mind.....I didn't :(

I actually really enjoy American Idiot and always thought I might pick up Dookie on vinyl at some point. Is there a pressing of this album that stands above the rest?

I'm close to having "all studio albums and at least one live album," but voted "Dookie and a lot of their other music." I'm a fan of smart pop punk, and think Green Day has evolved into that over the years. Big hooks, shoutalong choruses, sloganeering... what's not to like?

I bought it when it came out.
I almost never sell any of my music, but I went through a short period of time where I would sell some CDs. This was back when they were actually worth something.
I sold Dookie. I'm not sure why. I remember liking the album.

I voted "Dookie and a lot of their other music", I own most of their studio albums, I'm missing one or two from the late 90s I think and I don't have any live albums. I love the Dookie album, and it's still in my music rotation, it's been a few weeks since I listened to the album but I still do. Most people may know the big hits, but really the whole album is full of hooks and sing-along choruses. I know some people don't like Armstrong's singing style, but I've always enjoyed it, and for the style of songs they play the band seems to be a pretty tight unit.

I love American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, but Dookie is a fun listen not only for the catchy music, but also the light atmosphere of the album. Green Day really didn't get back to that fell until the Uno, Dos and Tre! albums, which were all brilliant IMO. Greenday is a band that maybe comes off as pretentious, but if one digs a little they can be a fun little rock band.

I own it, but I certainly don't think it's as strong as INSOMNIAC or NIMROD. Beyond the singles, it's very patchy.

Still a really fun album. Green Day lightened up 1994 in a much-needed way. Dookie is about as close to "brilliant" as a major-label slickly-produced pop punk album can get, before it disowns itself for being a too-popular sellout :D
