    Let's vote and discuss!

I vote for Jim Keltner, Levon and Al Jackson Jr.
Out of those three, Keltner's probably my favorite drummer ever.

Note #1: American drummers only, to avoid the usual suspects (Baker, Bonham, Moon, or Peart)
They're all great, by the way. :)

Note #2: I only include drummers that I'm familiar with.

Of those listed, I chose Bozzio and Kreutzmann, plus "Others." Others being Ralph Humphrey and Chester Thompson (and I'll toss in Ruth Underwood as a drummer/percussionist - they really were a three-headed monster).

I couldn't vote for Spencer Dryden, because he wasn't listed, but he certainly should have been!

Happy to see Keltner as top vote-getter, though.

Hugely underrated. He had a unique feel and navigated the Airplane’s improvisations with ease.

From the list I went with Dave Grohl and Steve Jordan. Good call on including Jordan, btw, He's amazing.

And then others: Stewart Copeland, Jerry Nolan, Clem Burke, Chris Mars, Alex Van Halen....there are a lot. And yes, I know AVH was born in the Netherlands but still.

Voted Levon Helm and Jim Gordon. If Stewart Copeland was also on the list, he would also get a vote.

For me; levon, Hayward and Billy k were among the biggest influences on my own playing. For jazz I'd add tony Williams, Lenny white and Peter Erskine. Keltner is way up there too.

I'm definitely in the "other" camp on this one.

    Mark Zonder
    Mike Portnoy
    Vinnie Colaiuta
    Terry Bozzio
    Rod Morganstern

If we expand the aperture to jazz, then there are so many more.

    Jack DeJohnette
    Art Blakey
    Max Roach
    Philly Joe Jones
    Roy Haynes
    Stanton Moore
    Lenny White
    Tony Williams
    Elvin Jones
    Buddy Rich
    Gene Krupa
    Alphonse Mouzon
