Leaving out Canadian, European, and Japanese drummers really narrows it down.

    Terry Bozzio
    Vinnie Colaiuta
    Lenny White

Jim Keltner. He plays exactly what a song needs and nothing more.

Unsure if the punchline is Peart was crap or the fact he is Canadian?

I realized we're 7 pages in and nobody has said Kenny Aronoff.

    Always liked Tris Imboden too.

Not in my top choices but John Densmore deserves a lot of credit for the Doors being able to make as much out of as little instrumentation as they had because of his jazzy chops.

Keltner is my top pick along with Hal Blaine and Richie Hayward.

Based on this battle, definitely Gadd - and not just for the non-mullet. :unhunh:

It's a very fierce battle though. Was never a fan of the mullet, but his playing is killer. It's just that Gadd just oozes feel, funk and almost puts the pedal through the kick drum.

See also: Tony Williams. As far as I'm concerned, Tony and Billy could rock out with the best of 'em!:righton:
The Bill Kruetzmann/Mickey Hart combo is one of my favourite drumming tandems, up there with Phil Collins and Chester Thompson in Genesis, along with these guys:
Nope. You can't. They tried for one album and it didn't work...
    Precisely why Keltner's my favourite.

No mention of Kenny Aronoff??? I saw him at the Hendrix shows last year and was really impressed with his playing.
