    I saw Moonraker the other day. Terrible film that makes little sense but entertaining as hell.

    FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, SKYFALL and THUNDERBALL for me - with Bond tough and callous, as he should be. I'd cut 30 minutes out of CASINO ROYALE, as it drags too much.

    I love Connery as Bond, but boy....he did age and fast! I remember seeing You Only Live Twice and was amazed how much he aged from Goldfinger to that movie.

    Watched Goldeneye the other day, Brosnan/Janssen bathhouse scene was amusing, but Bond freefalling and jumping into plane half way down a cliff and managing to fly it. :) Eric Serra score was more suitable to a french heist movie. But..have to admit Daniel Craig's -Casino Royal is very good. Soundtrack wise it's effective, but lead vocal is buried in the mix

    I just re-watched The Living Daylights last night, and all I could think about the entire time was how much Maryam d'Abo in 1987 looked like a woman I was briefly messing around with a couple summers ago! :D

    Due to the score alone, I have to go w/OHMSS, with honorable mention to FRWL and DAF. Of all the Barry scores, the ones I enjoy most are OHMSS, FRWL, DAF and Moonraker (sans the opening skydiving scene, possibly the only good thing about that movie).

    That said, I have to say to-date that I think Casino Royale is the best 007 film.

    If I had to rate by actor:

    Connery -> Thunderball
    Lazenby -> OHMSS
    Moore (yuck) -> FYEY or Octopussy
    Dalton -> TLD
    Brosnan -> GoldenEye
    Craig -> Casino Royale

    Although I think GOLDFINGER is the "best", I had to vote for THE SPY WHO LOVED ME as my "personal favorite". It was the first Bond movie I ever saw, and I was 15 and saw it in the theater more than once. I really loved the character of Jaws in that film.

    Most Overrated for me is ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.

    Dr. No for me, especially the scene where Bond kills the professor -- "That's a Smith & Wesson, and you've had your six." Cold blooded Bond at its best.

    I can't believe how many votes Goldfinger has. It's a great movie, but it isn't THAT much better than several of the others.

    I'm a huge Bond fan, but I don't really like any of the Craig films. I have the big Bond blu ray collection book.

    Depending on my mood, my favorites change, for a while Goldeneye was one of my favorites, but I really enjoy Live and Let Die, and I've watched Dr. No quite a few times over the years.

    I can't pick just one. I am a bit surprised that Goldfinger is getting most of the votes.

    OHMSS has the single best Bond line ever. In the beginning Bond is chasing a girl on the beach and she gets away. He looks into the camera and says, 'This never happened to the other fellow."

    My opinion exactly. I don't get why that one movie in particular is so far ahead of the others.

    The song has never been one of my favourites either. There are plenty of other themes I'd rather listen to.

    Goldfinger is the formula. As often is the case for the first installment of a formula, it is good, but yeah, I usually lean toward the ones that bend the rules, especially the ones that came before the rules... (Yeah, I voted for From Russia With Love...)

    Since it is the template, though, I am not at all surprised it reigns most polls.

    Interesting, though, that usually the more the film strains the formula, the more human and interesting Bond gets (You Only Live Twice excepted...).

    Shalom, y'all!

    It's impact is akin to Meet the Beatles, Sgt. Peppers, Paranoid, Exile on Main Street, Led Zeppelin II & IV, and Thriller.

    My favorites are the following:

    Goldfinger
    Diamonds are Forever
    Live and Let Die
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Octopussy

    I didn't care for Brosnan and the plots of those films were confusing and forgettable. I really liked Skyfall.

    It's because Bond mentioned the Beatles in it! ;)

    Isn't it ironic that Bond actually ended up working for one of the Beatles later on? :cool:
