It's "demented" that other people have different opinions from yourself? OK, right...

    No, it’s “almost demented”.
I just mean that if you line up those albums song for song, impartially, they are all equal. Just the quality of the songs, not the instrumentation, or how noteworthy they were upon release, but the songwriting, they are truly all equal.
    So why the imbalance then?
I don’t feel that other voters view things in such ways I guess.

Not sure why this poll is done again as it was just done last year being the 50th Anniversary, but sure my 5 Selections are the same.

ST Debut-The Doors(my favorite by far)
    Strange Days-The Doors
    After Bathing at Baxters-Jefferson Airplane
Piper at the Gates of Dawn-Pink Floyd
Their Satanic Majesties Request-The Rolling Stones(my favorite Stones Album)

I would add for Best Songs not on the 5 Albums I selected:

Section43(Electric Music for the Mind and Body)
Nights in White Satin(Days of Future Passed)
    White Rabbit(Surrealistic Pillow)

Come on you are being a bit sensitive.

I have also liked albums with varied genres, soundscapes and recording techniques in which Sgt. Peppers has it easily over the albums you mentioned.

There a lot of great albums from 1967 and my two top picks are "Sgt. Peppers and "Are You Experienced? which are completely different albums.

I have never been fan of The Velvet Underground but I like The Buffalo Springfield by the way.

Okay, to say that Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz weren't "artists" is total BS. They wrote, sang, performed, acted and to a lesser extent, played instruments. Just because they're not on the same level as the Beatles or Hendrix doesn't mean they aren't / weren't artists. Also, the show was leagues superior to the Beatles cartoon, particularly season two. Sure, not every episode was great, but there was a lot of counterculture weirdness going on in season two that I didn't even get until I was an adult. And say what you will about them, they weren't a bubblegum act.

In that order. Never been much of a Beatles or Dylan fan, 1967 is the year of the Doors and Hendrix

Really, the poll should be called best FM/AOR albums as really that's the only kind of music represented (with a smattering of soul). When I get some time to do a little research, I think I'll start my own poll, one which actually includes all of the different genres, not just mainly one.

That's great, it would be interesting another poll with more diversity. I guess it won't be an easy task, so good luck! I just used a different premise, and pointed to the most acclaimed records of the year beyond the genre.

It's true this particular poll (1967) resulted to be almost full of rock/pop records, probably because it was the most revolutionary year of the genre. However, previous polls (1965-66) were more diverse, including some jazz, blues and soul albums, even though the rock/pop genre still dominates those lists.

Each year there is so much great music produced in all genres so if you chose from each one there would be very little to wrestle over and make hard decisions on in each of those many genres. The poll would be much less interesting and much easier to complete. I liked the choices, made me think hard.

    From this list:

    Forever Changes
    Something Else
    John Wesley Harding
    Moby Grape
    Younger Than Yesterday

Could just as well have voted for VU, the Stones, Buffalo Springfield, and Country Joe.

Not your fault. The Monkees don’t belong on this list.

Maybe I should have limited these polls just to rock/pop records, with the title "Greatest rock/pop albums of *year*". But I preferred to include all the "most acclaimed" albums regardless the genre. Problem is that the supposedly universal lists tend to be dominated by rock/pop acts, at least the first positions, and that's why these polls had much less representation of other genres.

Like many, I have every one of these albums. There are no wrong choices here, from my perspective.

As the OP has stated on multiple occasions, obviously it’s not, nor can it be, completely inclusive of the kaleidoscopic musical landscape of 1967.

I’ll throw a few more of my favorites into the ring (without bemoaning their absence):

    • The Left Banke - Walk Away Renee/Pretty Ballerina
    • Bee Gees - 1st
    • Small Faces - s/t
    • Tages - Contrast
    • Chocolate Watchband - No Way Out
    • The Standells - Try It
    • Herman’s Hermits - There’s A Kind Of Hush
    • The Hollies - Evolution
    • Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - United
    • The Pretty Things - Emotions
    • Nilsson - Pandemonium Shadow Show

    2. Are You Experienced (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) 230 votes
    3. The Doors (The Doors) 223 votes
    4. Magical Mystery Tour (The Beatles) 153 votes
    5. The Who Sell Out (The Who) 126 votes
    6. The Velvet Underground & Nico (The Velvet Underground) 125 votes
    7. The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (Pink Floyd) 124 votes
    8. Forever Changes (Love) 117 votes
    8. Disraeli Gears (Cream) 117 votes
    10. Axis: Bold As Love (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) 105 votes

    12. Something Else (The Kinks) 84 votes

    The least voted album:

I've recently listened to this record for the first time and I quite enjoyed it. It's nice folk rock adorned with mild psychedelia.
