SHM-SACD Survey Card poll: Full Albums from 1990 till 2010 (Poll 1 of 2).

Which albums from the UMG Japan-catalogue should be released first?

You max pick max. 25 albums ;) To keep it interesting, pick at least 15 albums (please).

If you haven't heard of the artists yet, please check them out at Youtube, iTunes,... before voting. I discovered myself many interesting artists that I would never heard of, if I hadn't bought an sacd-player.

Hint: some will find it strange to see Lady Gaga in here, but it could be the best promotion for shm-sacd. Don't forget she designs headphones that sell like hot cakes! A Lady Gaga promo-stunt for shm-sacd (and audio components) could bring sacd finally to a "broader audience". Vote for her, even if you don't like her music (see it as an experiment). Everything she does is news for the media, even supporting a "so called" dead format. Give it a chance, it won't hurt!

    01. Dire Straits "On Every Street" (1991)
    02. Guns N' Roses "Use Your Illusion I" (1991)
    03. Guns N' Roses "Use Your Illusion II" (1991)
    04. Temple Of The Dog "Temple Of The Dog" (1991)
    05. U2 "Achtung Baby" (1991)
    06. The Cure "Wish" (1992)
    07. Nirvana "Nevermind" (1992)
    18. Björk "Debut" (1993)
    09. Meat Loaf "Bat Out Of Hell II" (1993)
    10. Nirvana "In Utero" (1993)
    11. Sheryl Crow "Tuesday Night Music Club" (1993)
    12. U2 "Zooropa" (1993)
    13. Portishead "Dummy" (1994)
    14. Björk "Post" (1995)
    15. Beck "Odelay" (1996)
    16. Mark Knopfler "Goden Heart" (1996)
    17. The Cardigans "Gran Turismo" (1998)
    18. U2 "All That You Can't Leave Behind" (2000)

    24. Lady Gaga "The Fame Monster - Deluxe Edition 2cd" (2009)
    25. Arcade Fire "The Suburbs" (2010)

Don't forget to vote for the other Polls! (60s & 70s, 80s, Greatest Hits/Best Of Albums).

    80s Albums
Greatest Hits - Best Of Albums

We need at least 95 more voters to send the results to UMG ;)

And there still has to be a second poll about those 2 decades in a few days.

    Hurry hurry :)

Nirvana first one to get 10 votes.

Some interesting titles, but it's not easy to find some good "recent recordings" at major labels. Most of them are on independents.

But there's still Arcade Fire, Temple Of The Dog, Nirvana, Portishead, Keane...
Strange that The Killers ain't popular in the US.

We have to support modern popmusic.

Don't forget that many of those 60s-70s bands in the other polls were also "underground" in that time: Velvet Underground, Allman Brothers, Caravan,...

If 'The Fame Monster' came out uncensored and un-brickwalled I would snap it up in a heartbeat.

Not much there that did much for my ears other than:

    Beck: Odelay
Sheryl Crow: Tuesday Night Music Club
    Arcade Fire: The Suburbs
    Nirvana: Nevermind

Is there anything on a Queens Of The Stone Age album that would benefit from a higher-resolution medium? Aren't the masters already squashed and clipped to death?

    Thanks Joey!

"On Every Street" is an underrated album imo. Hope it gets released in hi-res one day.
