The Cadillac was junked, and the Whizz Kid failed. We're voting 1 the rest of the way.

Discussion question: Have you seen Mott The Hoople or Ian Hunter live.........and if so, how many MOTT songs have you seen?

When I feel so down, like a worn out shoe.............

    Whizz Kid (Round 2)
I’m a Cadillac / El Camino Dolo Roso (Round 2)
I Wish I Was Your Mother (Round 1)
    Violence (Round 1)

Honaloochie.......saw them in 1974 (fantastic) in Philly and last April at the Keswick theatre out side of Philly, the best night of the year for me, loved every second. As I mentioned earlier I have seen Ian Hunter & the Rant Band many times over the last 15 years as my lifelong friend from all the way back to kindergarten plays lead guitar in the band and I will never forget the thrill of the first time I saw him playing the opening lick on Dudes or the licks in Memphis. He was in the MTH 74 band at the Keswick last year on stage with Bender & Fisher, big thrill for me.

Saw Hunter/Ronson in 1975. I don’t remember the set list but I’m sure they played some Mott The Hoople songs.

Wished I could've seen them when they toured MOTT/THE HOOPLE. I discovered them too late.:realmad:

"Ballad" again for me too. In a head-to-head comparison, I think the similar "Hymn" is just a better song.

I saw them in 74 so it was more “The Hoople” than “Mott”.

More of a mix on the reunion 74 show this year. Never see Hunter live. I do know 2 people called Ian Hunter though - do I win a prize?

    voted “Drivin Sister”

I saw MTH both with Ralphs (once) and with Bender (2 or 3 times). The Uris Theatre (NYC) show where Queen was the opening act was a great night. Have seen Ian and The Rant Band 3 times as well. Last time, Johnny Depp played guitar with the band on the last few numbers.

    Hymn to go.

I saw three of the 2009 MTH reunion shows, and Ian solo a dozen or so times.

    Heard live:
    All The Way From Memphis
    Honaloochie Boogie
The Ballad Of Mott The Hoople
    Hymn For The Dudes
    Violence
I Wish I Was Your Mother

I never saw Mott The Hoople originally, but did see Mott 74 once earlier this year.
According to setlist.fm, I've seen Ian & The Rant Band 11 times.

    Mott 74 had..............
    All The Way From Memphis
    Honaloochie Boogie
I Wish I Was Your Mother

    Rant shows.........................
All The Way From Memphis - 11 times
    Honaloochie Boogie - 5
    I Wish I Was Your Mother - 5
The Ballad Of Mott The Hoople - 2...........these were 2 shows a couple of weeks after Overend Watts passing.

Not just east coast, but all New York City.

Ian loves New York.......and the rest of the Rant band are from the area.

Drivin' Sister Fanny, best song left on the list and it looks like it might go.

Not sure how I missed this thread... Obviously disappointed to see ‘Whizz’ out in the first rounds... pure glam gold.

I’ll vote for ‘Honaloochie’ to go this round... one of Hunter’s least favourite tracks, btw... says the lyric is embarrassing.

Never saw Mott back in the day... did see three of the 2009 Hammersmith shows... and then three ‘74 shows this year.
As for Hunter solo shows, I’ve seriously lost count... I’m guessing three dozen +... all since 2004.

That’s my understanding the band tried to talk him into playing it for several years.

Too young for first time round , saw the 2009, 2013 and last year with the embarrassing Ariel Bender , also saw Hunter/Ronson 86 I think , blinding !
I have also seen Bowie and the Spiders but not together alas!
