"Forget That Girl" was forgotten, and "Early Morning Blues and Greens" is feeling the blues. 6 songs left, 2 more must go. Choose your next weakest links.

Discussion question: Have you seen the Monkees live in concert? If so, how many Headquarters songs have you seen them play?

    She'll only make you lonely..........................

Early Morning Blues and Greens (Round 3)
    Forget That Girl (Round 3)
I'll Spend My Life with You (Round 2)
    No Time (Round 2)
    Mr. Webster (Round 2)
I Can't Get Her Off My Mind (Round 1)
    Zilch (Round 1)
    Band 6 (Round 1)

Surprised that "You told Me" is getting so many votes. It is one of my favorite Mike tracks and a great album opener.

Nice bass drop & banjo & backing vocals but not as good a song as the others.

Saw The Monkees (including Mike Micky shows) 8 times, plus 3 Peter, 3 Micky, 2 Mike and one Micky/Peter show not billed as Monkees. Expect I have seen everything but Band 6. Are there any others they have not played at any of their shows from 1986-2021?

Shades of Grey and For Pete’s Sake.

Both are fine songs, but as I said yesterday “Pete,” while cery groovy, is a fairly simple little tune with simple lyrics.

Shades is a bit more ambitious. Lovely piano by Peter, lovely French horn too, and nice harmonies. But it’s also a bit slight, lyrically.

Anyone know why Shades is a Davy/Peter duet? I think it works well, but I always wondered about that.

DQ: I saw some version of The Monkees four times: 1986, 1987, 2014, and, finally, just a couple of months ago (One of the final Mike & Micky Shows).

Pretty much the usual suspects: All the Mike songs (since he rejoined), while Shades, Pete’s, No Time, and Randy were all common (No “Shades” at the M&M of course).

Did they do Zilch in 1986 or 1987? If they did, I don’t recall.

IIRC, Peter sang Shades himself each of the three times I heard it live.

Pete (again) and Sunny. I will throw a vote at Randy later if necessary to save You Told Me this round!

Seen them live 3 times. The usual suspects from HQ were performed.

Randy Scouse Git and...oh it's getting very difficult now, but Sunny Girlfriend.

I first saw them in the mid 80s at the Royal Albert Hall (Jones / Dolenz / Tork) and saw the full band at Wembley Arena in 1997. I honestly can't remember which HQ songs were played, but I hope they did For Pete's Sake.

Clearly, you missed the memo saying those are supposed to be the final two songs of the tournament. ;)

I think several people missed that.

Shades of Gray & Sunny Girlfriend go.

I have seen The Monkees 3 times in concert. I recall a good portion of these songs in rotation. I was very happy they played You Just May Be the One.

Yeah I'm confused why "You Told Me" is getting so many votes. Great song! Pete's banjo is an highlight. Chord changes and lyrics plus backing vocals are spot on.

Saw them summer 2013, Mickey, Peter, and Mike.

Never thought I'd see Nesmith but having just caught him solo in a small theater a few months prior (where "Papa Gene" was the only Monkees nod), this was the chance to savor his other half. And the other guys, too. Having finally realized I actually loved all these songs from childhood memories, I resolved to see them next chance I got. Unfortunately, that weekend in July 2012 I was saying goodbye to my cat of 17 years...while the show-goers were unknowingly saying goodbye to Davy.

The 2013 show exceeded all expectations, they couldn't have been better. And I was sitting next to the brother I'd watched all those episodes with. We loved 'em.

    HQ songs:
You Told Me, Just May Be the One, Randy Scouse Git, For Pete's Sake, Sunny Girlfriend, Early Morning Blues & Greens, No Time, Sunny Girlfriend
