They were a collective, of course, but whose contribution did you enjoy most – and why?

    Please give reasons!

  5. I've gone for Bob on the strength of Tweeter And The Monkey Man alone - that one song is the closest anyone ever got to condensing Bruce Springsteen's entire career into five-and-a-half minutes!

If I were to rank them today, it would probably be:
    George
    Tom
    Bob
    Jeff
    Roy

But the top three spots may not be static... [then again, sometimes Jeff might rank higher than Bob, so.... ]

  7. Roy, because I love his voice.

The end of Not Alone only puts Roy in the lead. Incredible vocals.

Picked George, about even with Bob, but his guitar work is a big part of the sound.

    Roy Orbison:

He probably wrote the least, but all the others praised his presence and the pure fun and kindness he brought to the group, and most importantly, HE HAD THAT VOICE!

I think George's songs stand out as the best compositions on the record, and also among the best of his career (assuming he was the lead writer on those, anyway). But all of the other songs on the record are great too. I really enjoy hearing Jeff Lynne's harmonies with all of these other voices.

Also, I think it's interesting that George's songs sound distinctly like high quality George Harrison songs, and yet also preserve the lighthearted quality of the project. Some of the other songs sound either a little too lightweight, or else they sound like Bob Dylan solo songs!!

Bob Dylan. Overall, it's his songs that are my favorites of the TW project. Congratulations and 7 Deadly Sins are among my favorite Dylan songs, period.

George, for both being an artist and a co-producer. His songs were better than Lynne's.

Kind of shocking to think that only two of them are left.

The Big O for me, even though I hold George in extremely high regard. Orbison's voice is just pure silk and emotion.

They all had nice moments but hearing George sing on these albums always brought a smile to my face.

A bunch of friends got together to make some music and have fun.
I won't ruin that spirit by picking favorites. Every on of those songs is the result of group effort, regardless of who wrote it or sings lead.

Couldn't decide between George and Roy, went with Roy since I thought his contributions were the most unique. Not to take away from Bob, Jeff, or Tom - the Wilburys wouldn't be the same without any of them (note the marked change of sound from vol 1 to 3). Vol 1 is the most uplifting, absurd album of great music that I've ever heard, and Roy's moments shine brightest.

I actually prefer George's voice, but the main reason I picked him, or two reasons, is first I liked his songs best, and second I think he was the person most responsible for making it work, putting it together.
