Nick Mason is quoted in the liner notes of the Live at the Roundhouse release that he estimates that the Saucerful of Secrets band have only covered approximately 15% of the available pre-Dark Side material. At first I thought this must be way under estimated, so I tried to compile the following list.

The list shows (in roughly chronological order) most of the pre-Dark Side songs, with the ones already covered by The Saucerful of Secrets in bold italics. From the list, the covered songs represent about 27%, but I haven’t included some of the early covers, jam sessions or The Man and The Journey sequence, for example.

For the poll – which of the uncovered songs would you most like to hear performed by the band? I have had to abbreviate the poll list, as it is limited to 25. The last poll option is for Syd Barrett solo songs, if you think that would be a good idea.

Please choose a maximum of 5 songs.

    My own choices would be:

Echoes – already decided to be done in future shows, but a big thumbs up from me for the return of THE PING!

Fat Old Sun – strange that this has been overlooked, as it is one of the best early Floyd songs, but maybe it is deemed to be David’s song, as he has so often played it.

Paintbox – one of Rick’s finest songs.

Biding My Time – an overlooked early classic. Great guitar solo.

Scream Thy Last Scream – a manic Syd song, that I’m sure would suit the punkish side of The Saucers.

I haven't received my copy yet, but having heard the album on Spotify, they've done a really good job. I was waiting for them to come to my home town this year, but covid-19 intervened.

It's interesting that they could do another double CD with all new songs and still be choosing great songs.

Those interested in the album should also check out RPWL's live rendition of The Man and the Journey. IMHO.

Also originally sung by Mason himself, so it would be cool if he reprised his lead vocals live.

    Where's Pow R Toc H??

    Scream Thy Last Scream
    Matilda Mother
    Cymbaline
    The Embryo (full '70 arrangement)
    Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast

Careful is tempting, but could anyone else pull off the scream?

    In order of preference:

    1. CAREFUL WITH THAT AXE, EUGENE
This has been my no. 1 wish since the first day. I understand the mood of this track is somber and the boys already have Saucerful and Set The Controls, but Eugene is not only an essential track of the pre- Dark Side Floyd, it's also THE track that best defines that era of the band. I don't know who could do the manic scream (I'm available!), but we definitely need Eugene on the set. Oh and fire on the gong please!

    2. ECHOES
I know this is coming and contrary to some opinions here on the forum, I want the FULL Echoes on the set. Even if it's not played every night.

    3. CYMBALINE
This one might be a bit tricky as it's such David track, but for some reason I don't know, he never plays it, so the boys should have a go at one of the key tracks of the early Floyd.

    4. MATILDA MOTHER
Essential Piper track and a quick one that fits neatly on the set.

    5. FLAMING
    Same as above.

I had to edit the list to 25, so I arbitrarily removed what I thought would be the least popular, including Pow R Toc H.

Maybe I got a lot wrong.........

Would have been great if they did "Axe" when Waters sat in just to see how he'd handle the scream!

I'd also like to hear "See-Saw" and "Summer '68."

Seamus blew out his voice years ago. No way he could hit those notes these days.

I mentioned in the other thread that they should do The Man and The Journey.

    How about Apples and Oranges?

Or even go back further to Lucy Leave.

I'd like to hear them playing more Syd's songs or those ones of the others which weren't played live in the past.

I understand the purpose of One Of These Days in their current set list is to let the audience feel they're at PF related show, but I don't find NM'sSoS performance much different from lots of the previous ones. The more rarities the better.

My feeling was that One of these Days was an obvious pick for this band because Nick was such a focal point of the performance in Live in Pompeii.

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.

Apparently Syd sings the line ‘she’ll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours’.

I'd love the whole track. It's always been a favourite of mine even when I wasn't much into the album (I am now).
