I love this clip. It sort of reminds me in a way of Hendrix at the isle of Wight. Theyre fighting to control the guitar. Both far from perfect but I find it mesmerising for some reason.

Pat Metheny's showcase solo back in the day. It has it's own Wikpedia entry. "The song was nominated for Best Instrumental Composition at the 1983 Grammy Awards; the Boston Globe added, "It's also our choice for the best fusion ballad of the year."[10] Many critics continue to praise it". Played on the Roland GR-300. Roland GR-300 - Wikipedia Solo starts at 3:44 and goes until the end. It is awesome.

The playing on this album is out of this world. Concrete Jungle is another. So here it is:

there's a decent solo between the first two verses, but 2:18 is the place to skip to.

edit: it could be this youtube version or my crappy speakers, but the lead guitar sounds pretty low in the mix on this. Sorry.

This is a phenomenal solo and without question my favorite version of this song. The solo begins quietly around the 3:10 mark and builds up to an amazing crescendo:

Lovely song, very early Eco-protest. Guitarist Mauri Berg should be held in the same esteem as Paul Kossoff - less is more, and a tone to die for.

The solo in this one from Berton Averre is pretty tasty, too. Starts around the 2:09 mark...

World class soloing from a guitarist nobody knows and a turnaround that sounds as fresh 55 years later... throw in a monster vocalist and this defines "lost classic":

Lots of tasty fills from Mick Taylor throughout, but if you just want the solo, go to 2:10.

Leslie West, first solo at 2:45, the second at 4:00. Like the previous link with Mick Taylor, channelling Albert King.

Dire Straits - Single Handed Sailor. Great playing throughout, but gets sublime at 2:50 to the end of the song.

Johnny Winter's version of Jumpin' Jack Flash never fails to get me movin'. First blistering solo at 1:34 and the second at 3:14.
