I think it's a bit unfair to compare to the B&W's since those are much smaller in person despite their price tag over the Evo's. You immediately know you're listening to a larger speaker. Bass hits you in the chest harder. Sound stage feels wider and I'm glad I wasn't swayed by the comments about the AMT's. I just eyeballed the toe in and it's no where near as bad as some people make them out to be. You don't need to be in a 2'x2' spot to enjoy them. The AMT is a pleasure and so smooth compared to the B&W's. I'm still keeping the B&W's as on occasion I enjoy the more forward sound but for ever day listening I'll have a much better time after a long days work to listen to the Evo's. I just can't believe Wharfedale sells these for $2k here... they physically feel, look and sound like they should be in the $4k category. I can only imagine how the Elysian's sound.
Wharfedale usually need some long time to burn-in. At least in my experience. Give them at least 200 hours to settle in. And 200 hundred more to reach their full potential.
Nah I won't put the amp in there, it needs more room to breathe. Once I add a bottom pc of plywood I'll just use it to either display krapp or storage........
I must admit - looking at the side by side photo you posted over in your other thread - I didn't realize those B&W's were so small. The comparison is quite jarring. You're right - the physical size is a definite factor - but I maintain you're also hearing a more complimentary match for your Yamaha. The Wharfedales are an easier load while those B&W's are fiends for current and as good an amp as the 1200 is (I owned the 2200 so I have some familiarity) you'd need something with a ton more watts to really get a hold of them. Also - you have a massive room - so that's working against the B&W/Yamaha pairing from the get-go. Anyway - good luck and enjoy. I agree btw - those Wharfedales are really nice and could easily be priced higher.
Not in my room, but my dealers room this afternoon with Boulder 1000 series, Nordost Odin, and YG Hailleys. There was no shortage of resolution there. Unfortunately I only got a picture of the electronics.
Thanks! not sure we're allowed to post links to Amazon but they are these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BFF11MVD?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Same here! all my interconnects & coaxial are WBC mogami. I also have their bi-wire canare 4s11 speaker wires for the B&W's. Best bang for the buck company in my opinion.
Added to the ceiling cloud tonight, that has pretty much completed the vision. https://www.audiogon.com/systems/10355
We were swapping around some cables and doing some very intentional listening so mostly our personal reference stuff. I was using a track off of the new Pino Palladino and Blake Mills album Notes With Attachments.
Great choice! A really great contemporary and under appreciated record that also sounds absolutely amazing.
