Beautiful room! Our gracious greige room looks more grey than yours. Could be the screen I'm looking at though. Our room goes from beige, to grey, to light blue depending on light source.
I had my man cave painted as close as possible to 18% grey. When I make photographs in the room, the wall makes a handy white balance reference. Many of the photographs in this thread are slightly on the blue side or slightly on the red side and, to me, an OCD nervous Nellie photographer, look less good than they could. Sometimes, rather than admiring the lovely gear and room, I find myself muttering, "Can't we touch up the white balance a bit here?"
If you want grey, here's an old pic of my grey room. I loved the color for a listening room. This pic is pretty close on my screen.
Looks like I was slightly off. It's Not "Gracious Greige" but "Perfect Greige" (Sherwin Williams 6073)
I had a grey and maroon business card back in the early 80's. It was very stylish for my artsy business.
My office system at work. Sony STR-7055, Sony D-5, Realistic Minimus 7s. The desktop also has a ton of music loaded to it. Pardon the messy desk. It's new laptop distribution season.
Early Christmas present, my friend Barry made me a turntable base like my brothers. Ash wood/ baseball bat goodness. Heavy ( 16lbs). He handed it to me and I almost dropped it.
I've been following this thread for years now and have been impressed by so many of your systems... Thought I'd add my relatively modest rig, pretty much all British gear: Rega, PMC, Atlas cables.
And hey, if it doesn't work out, you can always make a Tele out of it! BTW, I like your *newspaper*. One of my favorite headlines.
Fantastic room! Love everything about it. Looks like the shelf your CD player and amp are on is floating.
Nice. Clean, symmetrical, no poster of Bob Marley, no Nipper, and no damn Lava Lamp (I have one but not with my gear; it sits on a piano in my living room *adjacent* to my gear...).
Very cool. Love your avatar, BTW. I was floored by the album. Maybe it was the glass of wine, but I thought the production and pressing were superb.
Thanks for the kind words. My dad actually welded some brackets under the shelves for support. The box sets kinda cover those up. Poor photography also helps the illusion...
I had a similar experience. I have an if-it-isn't-all-the-way-broke-don't-fix-it attitude. When your basement floods, it's all the way broke.
