I'm baffled on how to insert photo here, so here's a link to my system and the room from another forum. Our Townhome System - Virtual Systems
I must of done something wrong because I copied url address and a little box w/ a "?" showed up instead of the photo.
Why the fan? Abundance of caution or does that amp overheat? I ask because it seems so open, I wouldn't think heat would be a problem.
I'll vouch for that. I got similar when I was in the Navy early 70s. Mine were the 88s. Got 4 of them to go with the quad Pioneer receiver. And they really did sound good. Full range R&R speakers. Smooth, rich, full. But... the woofers blew more than once. I sold them to friends – with warnings. They never had issues. Later, when I learned more stuff, I could only presume it was the underpowered (25x4) receiver.
The shelf above it gets very hot when on for extended times. The fan is a super quite fan for audio equipment.
All right, here's my humble little hodge podge. Overview: Tannoy speakers Ikea Kallax, with one divider removed ignore the Xmas lights From the bottom up: Marantz PM7005 Teac CD-P650, with iPod Classic plugged in via USB. Kind of the weak link, but it'll do for now. I should get a DAC one day Panasonic blu ray (I wish I knew how to play CDs on this without a crackling sound and then the player switching itself off after 15 minutes) Rega TT-PSU Rega Fono MM Mk 2 Rega RP3 Rega Carbon. After endless frustration with an AT440mlb and a Nagaoka MP-110, I've gone back to basics. My collection is either beat-up preowned stuff or gnarly new pressings, and conical seems to be the best way to handle surface noise. (If anyone wants a Nagaoka MP-110 with only a few hours on it, let me know and we'll work out a price.)
Rega P5/Simaudio Moon and Dual 1229/Audio Electronics PH-1 into a PrimaLuna ProLogue Two and Harbeth HL Compact 7ES3s
Man. I ran a PH-1 into a Prologue 2 for several years. Really a wonderful combo. Never had anything close to the Harbeths with it though. It must sound grand.
