King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!!! Gumboot Soup is an excellent album Excellent set up and taste in music. Yes!!!
Thanks man. Love The Gizz! Waiting to see what they do next. Hoping for a straight up prog album, although I'll take another collaboration with Mild High Club...
Very curious to see what they come up with next. Not sure we will see another 5 albums released in the same year again but would gladly take an album a year. Prog album would be great.
I bet that's high fidelity! I know what the Node2i is like, but paired with the PS audio DAC...DAM! So tell us about the PS audio DAC/PRE and the PS Audio Amp? Sound signature?
Sure, when it arrives but dont hold your breath. Though I had a call from the local dealer about the optional PSUs so there is hope
Congrats on the PS Audio Stellar stack.. I don't think there's a better $2800 deal in audio right now.
The Bluesound is passing through 24/96 through coax on mqa files with Tidal which is cool, and kills the full unfold through RCA's. Happy about this for sure. CDs sound better than I've ever heard them on my rig, but maybe a hair brighter than I like. I'm hoping some break in takes care of this. I am finally hearing some depth from CDs though, which is cool, but as of now I'm still preferring my turntable. As far as sound signature, I'd say clean, with very strong and tight bass, with a nice wide and three dimensional soundstage. Like I said before though, I hope the highs chill a little with break in. I'm also hoping the mids get a bit more lush
I find that ultralinear bass is tighter but not as realistic as the softer and more natural bass that is rendered in the triode mode.
It's both amusing and great to see that no listening room seems to be complete w/o the ubiquitous Lava Lamp. And yes, I have one, too.
Damn, I'm taking back some of my comments. Its smoothing out and warming up already! These may be keepers!
Sometimes you have sensitive speakers, but without adequate bass cabinets. My vintage Altec A7's have very resolving realistic bass, within the range that the 828 bass cabinets were designed to perform. The 828 bass cabinet, has about 15 cubic feet of volume. Still, if you expect them to kick out some strong bass and rock out, then you need to feed them some real power, Which the Rogue M-150 monoblock's do quite nicely. The A7's with their 828 bass cabinet's, will play down to around 50-Hz. give or take a couple of dB. So, given sufficient power, they can play a bass guitar gown to the low open "E" string at 41.5-Hz and be strong and articulate. But other than rocking the house, a speaker that is highly sensitive is best when paired with a lower power amp, perhaps a 4-8 Watt SET amp. An amp of this power may still give you nice articulate bass, but not at any volume. If you have the midrange driver's playing at a certain volume, you may need a separate sub-woofer to keep up. Similarly, if you need to gown lower in frequency, say below 40-Hz., then having a sub to reinforce the bass is important, because the lower you go in frequency, the more power it takes to produce low frequency bass notes as the same volume level as the main program material. I use a large commercial sub when a lot of power is directed to the A7's. I use a smaller home sub when powering them with my 3.9-Watt class "A" amplifier. Either way, the extra bass reinforcement is a welcome addition, as it keeps things articulate and natural.
