It's a modular 2 seat sofa with recliner. I'm not sure if it has a specific name but theoretically I can extend or change its layout by adding more segments.
Nice woofer. DO you have trouble with feedback having those large speakers right next to the turntable?
Not so far but I mostly run a DAC out there and never get the volume up very much. That table and phonostage in the Fisher isn’t exactly the most revealing analog chain. It’s just for fun and seems to deliver. It doesn’t take very long while listening to records to want to go do that in the house.
They also shouldn’t be on the same surface as a turntable, in a garage, not on stands and in corners. But here we are and everything seems to be ok. If you’d like to post a pic of your system I’d be willing to give some critical feedback.
Words of wisdom. Thankfully, there is recovery for those who suffer from such addictions. Not saying the recovery is easy, but it is well worth it.
Our personal compromise is: I get my dedicated room, she can have the entire rest of the house. Go ahead and paint the kitchen hot-pink if you want, as long as I have my one room. Luckily the wife has good taste, and also enjoys my room.
Yes, they're motorized sliding doors and the cabinets on the sides are where I keep my Vinyls and supplies. My wife actually likes that it closes up and hides everything. The unit also holds speakers and subs for the surround system.
I recall the long conversation I had with my girlfriend about wall space for CDs before I moved in. It's a small space, so we each had to compromise, but I did not agree until it was a space I know that I could be happy with. We came up with this: And this for the bigger box sets: I also got creative, putting Container Store drawers under the couch for more storage and a few boxes on a shelf, but beyond that, I simply get rid of old stuff when I get new stuff. Which means I get less new stuff, but my girlfriend was so generous with the space that I make sure that I do not exceed it.
I guess some of you have seen that Steve Gutenberg at Audiophiliac has been doing a “ show us your system “ video series. Anyway he had a call for vintage systems and got over 200 entries.
